After: new cushion cover

I previously shared this on Facebook and Instagram (I’m #mabeylisa if you’re interested in following me), but in case you didn’t see it there, I thought I’d post it here as well since I have more room to talk about it. :)

I saw the stool by the recycling area at our complex and did a little walk by with the stroller. And then I walked by again. It was sitting all by itself and (other than the upholstery) seemed to be in good condition. I snatched it up and brought it home with the thought that I could tear it apart and try my hand at reupholstering it and even if I ruined the thing I wasn’t out any. It could go right back to the recycling area.

Before

When Chad came home he looked at it (it was still outside the apartment because I hadn’t had a chance to wipe it down yet) and asked what the story was. I giggled sheepishly and told him my plan.

And then (after he found the appropriate tools for me) I spent some time and effort digging staples from the wood until the fabric was all off. Then came the fun part of putting new stuff on. I had this quatrefoil outdoor fabric that I thought would be awesome, so I started stapling and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I love how bold it is. And I love that it was a quick project that seems to have opened my eyes to the virtues of recovering furniture.
