{Get Crafty}Nativity Scene Sign and Pass It On Giveaway

Christmas Project #4 for you this week!
In case you missed the other ones...
#1)Starbucks Cup Angels
#2)  Our Christmas Mantel
#3)Framed Ice Skates Wreath
A simple comment and I've got this lovely sign to add to my Christmas decor.
Here's the original one (below) that inspired me, made by my Canadian bloggy friend
Mel at Junkin' Junky.
She saw a similar one and was able to create her own vinyl Nativity to make hers.
Mel does all of these amazing transformations to her house, from whipping up slip covers to tackling her kitchen, to redoing her kids' rooms and finding the best thrifted items to add flair to her stylish home.  I'm always in awe of her talents!!

When I saw Mel's Nativity sign, I commented much I loved Nativities and this one was nice because she didn't need to worry about all of the pieces.
She offered to send me my own vinyl scene to try and make one for myself.
My initial reaction was to thank her but to politely turn her down because I didn't think I could or would actually make my own sign but I thought about it and decided to take her up on her offer.
Here's the sweet note and the vinyls she sent me.
She sent me two in case I messed one up.
{She knows me well!}
I knew I wanted mine to look exactly similar to hers because I loved the blue background behind the fresh white vinyl.
I used a piece of scrap wood that I found in the garage.
{at least I hope it was scrap}
I sanded it a little bit and wiped it down.

I started with this aqua color.
It was bright!
To tone it down, I added some white paint and wiped some of it off.
I still wasn't happy with the result so I added some of this darker blue color.
It finally looked the way I liked it.
I wiped some of the darker blue off with a paper towel.
When it dried I applied the vinyl.
I rubbed the backing to make sure it was adhered well.
Moment of truth..time to pull off the backing!
Slowly..slowly to make sure I didn't miss any of it.
 Ta da!
 I love it!
It looks nice on our half wall between the kitchen and family rooms but I already had three Nativity scenes between those two rooms.
I didn't have an exact spot in mind when I made this but I think it looks great on our piano.
I don't know what's up with the creepy shadows on the wall but it was at night.
It looks great by my white and blue tree!

Want to make your own?
I only used one of the vinyls so I will pass on the other one one of my LUCKY readers!
Just leave me a comment and I will pick a winner at random on Monday 12/10.
Make sure to leave me an email so I can contact the winner.

Oh wow! This is stunning! I love it!

We only have one nativity scene in our apartment. It was given to my parents by my grandmother, and now it is ours. Of course, I registered for one too!

Thank you for giving away the other vinyl! I've got my fingers crossed :)

It's beautiful! I was just reading this post wondering how I could make one too. You are so generous to offer the remaining vinyl to a reader. I love its simplicity and the beautiful reminder of why we celebrate Christmas! Also, your comment about the scrap wood was funny because I've gotten in "trouble" for taking tidbits before from the garage that I thought were scrap too :)
Happy Crafting!

Hi Heather. I'm visiting from Debbie-do's party. I love love this wood nativity. It's so simple and beautiful. How very lucky of you to get a set of vinyl for free. It's a great copy cat! Diane @Giraffe-legs
