Let the Baking Begin....

Today marked the beginning
of baking season around here...

when the holidays draw close,
it's nice to have easy to serve
sweets for surprise guests...

today I made my first fruitcake...

I have always loved them,
but never made my own...

I made one to enjoy fresh,
and one to cure in brandy for Christmas Eve...

I still haven't finished decorating...

this year just feels like a quieter year,
a simpler year,
a year to enjoy loved ones...

stacks of ruffled plates...

 a clutch of silver forks,
simple and yet special...

snowy lace...

the twinkle of
cut glass and candlelight...

reflecting back on a happy year...

I hope you have
something sweet on your plate today...

today I am joining
Home @ Rose Chintz Cottage
and

Thanks for visiting me today...

Hello Bella... and thanks for your visit today... happy I made you smile with Jack's Harley decorated for Christmas!... your fruitcake cured in brandy sounds delish!... and I love your soft decorations... even though I put out soo much of my vintage Christmas, I too feel like it is a softer, quieter one this year... maybe just in my thoughts, but nevertheless... simpler seems better... your home is so beautiful... and I'll bet is smells Heavenly as you bake... xoxo Julie Marie

That fruitcake looks delicious, the beautiful snowy lace and tablesilver. It all looks perfect! I have no sweets on the table today (haha). Yesterday we had to many with our gardening friends.

Simply stunning. Sometimes it's best to keep things simple so you can enjoy your loved ones and remember the true purpose for the season.

I have my baking done, all but the pies. I make two fruit cakes every year; one dark and one light.
Bella, your photos are so lovely and serene. Love the soft whites and the candlight in the cut glass. Thank you for sharing with us and coming to my HOME.

Christmas blessings,
Sandi

I agree, this year does feel like a quieter, simpler one. I have not done near as much decorating, and that is just fine. Your sideboard is beautiful, and your fruit cake looks absolutely delicious! I made fruit cake last year for the first time. :)
