The PTA association does a contest of the arts called “Reflections.” This year the theme is “The Magic of the Moment.” Kids are encouraged to do performances and visual arts that reflect the theme. The work gets submitted to the school for display, and some kids are chosen to move on to state. This project was suppose to be completely driven by Abby. I reminded her of some of the artwork we have done in the past and asked her if she wanted to use a technique we have done before or if she had other ideas. Because we had recently done the blown tree with leaf glitter, she decided she wanted to use that technique. She chose the colors and did the design by herself. She said that she decided to do her design because it looked like magic and an explosion. She did a couple options and chose her favorite as displayed above.
The concept is very simple, and creates some fun modern-like art. The first thing you do is make some paint choices and water it down a bit. Using a dropper, drop paint on the paper. I had the kids do one color at a time.
The next thing to do is just blow. I encouraged the kids to get low and blow toward the bigger puddles of paint. There was a learning curve. We added a touch of glitter to their work.
Love this! I used the same technique to create birth announcements for my new baby. All the kids helped make them. http://www.fiveoritethings.com/2012/09/baby-youre-firework.html
I love your blog. Some many amazing ideas, and fun things to do with kids.
