Vintage Chair Planter...

(click photos to enlarge)

Over the weekend I visited the Lavender Festival

While I was there...
I saw this too cute vintage chair
 turned into a planter...

On the way home I stopped at one of my favorite
annual "field" sales..
and there sat this chair for a good price...

So I knew I had to make a planter of my own:-)

I popped out the bottom
and lined in with chicken wire..

Painted and sanded it...

Filled the seat with some annual flowers and moss...

The flowers are Lantana,
and since they have a pop of orange to them
I thought it will be perfect for the front porch this fall.
The flowers should be all filled in by then.

I will leave it sitting in the weather,
the painted wood should be getting
some nice chippy textures by then too..

Maybe a little frog ...
will even take up residence in the chickadee house:-)

Today I am joining...
and
I am reposting at...
for the unusual garden planters theme party!

Thanks for visiting me today!

I've seen such planters on other blogs before, and I thought it was such a wonderful idea. Yours is very pretty. The little house among the flowers looks so cute.
Thank you for joining my Handmade Monday and your sweet comment ;-)

Perhaps fairies are going to live there together with the frog.
I think Lantanas are "happy flowers" I love the colors they show

Oh Bella, what a beautiful planter idea. I love the birdhouse and you're right, the lantana really gives it a pop of color. It's all so pretty.

The next time the sun shines I will paint the chair I've had I've had in the back hall all summer - it has a box of painting supplies on it now. Thanks for the great idea. I had just read about the lavender festival a few days ago and was thinking I would love to explore the Olympic Peninsula one summer. I have looked across "The Salish Sea" so many times. Did you know the Straights of Juan de Fuca were just re-named?

The chair turned out really nice and I know you'll have it decorated for the changing seasons which should be fun.

I have family in Puyallup. Your chair is just gorgeous. I had to chuckle when you said Washington is a great place to garden, I have the worst luck here, but glad to see others who do so beautifully.
I did much better in Idaho.

Hello! Just love this! I have an old chair, but I am wondering if anything needs to be done so that it won't fall apart after some time in the elements.
Your results were fantastic
