People often ask me to name the best “treasure” I have ever uncovered. I always have a difficult time narrowing it down to just one. And therefore I have never answered this question the same. After all I go to 100’s of estate sales, flea markets, yard sales, thrift stores, junkyards, basements, auctions and curbs. I’m always hunting. I’m not your casual 10 am yardsaler with coffee in hand. I’m haulin’ in the early hours. Practically the same hours I used to go to bed after a night out just a few years back. (My how things have changed!) The thrill of the hunt is the best part and how this vintage obsession began. Maybe you remember my confession?
Yeah. I digress.
So if you were to ask me this week what my favorite find is, I would have to tell you about a simple, handmade potting bench.
The bench is not ornate nor is it even necessarily vintage. It was sitting curbside outside of a home that was up for sale. I spotted it as Ryan and I whizzed by but did not call it out to him immediately. Then the wheels were turning and it became apparent to me how much I needed a simple potting bench in my life. After voicing that to Ryan he dropped me off and went back for it.
I’m completely smitten with this bench and it’s simplicity.
The washed wood. The straight lines. And of course, the rescue!
It looks pretty good dressed up with my vintage lovelies including this old lab stool.
I’m also completely smitten with Ryan for trash picking in my honor. Isn’t he sweet? I’m gonna marry him I tell ya!

Love, love, love the bench! I must admit, though, that I would probably ruin the look by installing shelves to hold all the other junk that goes with potting up plants. It would totally ruin the image of the area you’ve created! Rats! I hate clutter (but live with it constantly).
I also love that Ryan would do that for you. It must be a really good relationship that you two have!

OMG…this is EXACTLY what I want for our patio!! I don’t know that I’ll ever find it, and I’m pretty sure DH would NOT be willing to help me get it in the car 😦 (truth be told, I’m not sure I’m nervy enough either!! but I WANT to be LOL!). Good for you!! It’s awesome!
