A Haunted Townhouse

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

One of my friends asked me to make her a Haunted House. She loved the one I made last year, for a Halloween carnival, and wanted one of her own! The thing I love about these... they're cheap & sometimes free! Yay!
I was limited by space for her house so I couldn't do a haunted Mansion. Soooo, I decided to do her ...

...  A Haunted Townhouse.

I gathered up my old tissue boxes (I'm always saving stuff like that to use for crafts with the kids),a piece of 12x12 styrofoam and my black spray paint.

Crafts 002
I found some sandwich toothpicks that worked perfect as a picket fence! I cut out the windows and doors and as you can see...they don't have to be perfect;0) I also found a little twig outside to use as a 'tree'  for the front yard. Cute!
Crafts 003
After it dried (about 10 min) I added the orange tissue paper to the inside of each box. I just stuck my 'tree' in the corner of the yard. It's sorta hard to see, but it's there!

Crafts 009
I've started working on the walkway from the gate to the front door. I've used pebbles from the yard that I hot glued to heavy craft paper. I just use floral pins to secure it to the foam. Easy!

Crafts 008
I've started adding shutters and moss. The roof is just black foam with hot glue shingles. I have a lot more bats to add and a few ghosts (made from suckers) and jack-o-lanterns (made of acorns) to paint and put around the front door.

Crafts 007
I use battery powered tea lights that I put inside each box (behind the orange paper) and it gives off a spooky glow!  We've been enjoying it every evening in our living room.  I still have a few more things to do before she's finished, but I can already tell it will be hard to let her go!

I'm joining in Table Top Tuesday over at A Stroll Thru Life. Stop by and visit with Marty.

This is absolutely fabulous. So clever. I love it. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. You are so creative. I know she will be so thrilled. Thanks so much for linking to TTT. Hugs, Marty

This is a really cute idea and inexpensive too! The more primitive and crooked it looks the cuter it is! Come say hi,

Hey Holly....aww thanks so much for your comments. Had to come over and visit been so busy lately. The cotton picking post was so interesting...and I have to tell you that I have been saving boxes around the house to make a haunted house (my sis did one on her blog) and I love your townhouse version...so cool. I think we have a project this weekend. lol Thanks again for stopping by and have a great weekend. P.S You can visit Nate website and submit on a number of topics if you dont live nearby.
