Last summer, I fell in love with striped walls through Pinterest. I had seen this tutorial on YHL and decided to go for it in our upstairs hallway! I used white paint we already had to be the base coat. Then I mixed some tan paint we also had with the white to create the accent stripe. Here are some in progress pictures. Unfortunately, I didn't take any before I started working, but we had yellow walls and the nook was tan, red, green-that tuscany look we were all into about 10 years ago!
It immediately made the space lighter and brighter. Just what I wanted!
After painting the fun stripes, I knew I wanted some colorful pillows for the nook because I had decided to use this space to show off my children's art work. I pinned ideas like crazy for inspiration and was drawn to coral, orange, turquoise, and lime. Mom and I picked up the fabric when she was here over Christmas. The fabric was on sale and she had a 40% off coupon! She made the pillows using forms I already had and sent them to me. Thanks, Mom!
Then I had to decide what I wanted to hang on the wall above them. I did some shopping last week at Hobby Lobby, but nothing struck my fancy, especially in my price range which is cheap! On one of my rare trips down to the
Finally, I knew I wanted some texture in the space, so I bought the natural shade for the window at Lowe's on Thursday for $30.

I love it! I have already pinned it! :)
Beautiful!!! Now how much do you get to spend there? XO
Love it! The pillows turned out great, and I thought I recognized that mirror! But Sharon's right: the only person I envision curling up in that space is Lenny with her Warriors books ;)
Looks great.... looks similar to my dining room except I did vertical stripes.
I love your nook!
