It's o-fish-ally your birthday...

Olo! 

We are doing a review of the 2024 MerMay clear release that hit the shelves at Sweet November Stamps last weekend and I chose to shine the spotlight on the fun Something's Fishy set. All of the cute sea critters included in it are designed to accompany the various mermaids available, but for this card I wanted the fish to be the stars of the show. The Postage Collage slimline die created the perfect little vignettes to stamp up individual mini scenes and I brought in some extra background stamps from the Seashells and Sunshine and The Guppies sets. Jumping jellyfish!

This beauty from the Mermee Emotions set at Sweet November Stamps was singing a siren song to join her two sisters and finally get on a card of her own. So with the fun jellyfish sentiment also included in the set, I grabbed the cute jelly from the Something's Fishy set to join her. To help set the scene I used the new Background Builder: The Deep set, placing them both at the bottom of the ocean. Now I'm not exactly sure how jellyfish celebrate birthdays but I bet that his mermaid friend will make his big day extra special!  :)

The sea...

Hey, hey! 

I couldn't let MerMay come and go without getting the newest mermaid from Moonlight Whispers onto a card. The stamp set is called, The Darkest Depths, and there is certainly something dark and twisty about this particular ocean dweller. She has surrounded herself with the remains of all the unfortunate sailors that she's lured into their watery graves, pondering her rather macabre collection. I used the Copic airbrush system to create the play of light and shadow in the water surrounding her, then stamped on the school of small fish to bring some added interest to the scene. I gotta say, after all of the bright and bubbly mermaid cards that I've been making, this was a fun little detour to take. ;)

Good morning!

Just a heads up that today is the last day to participate in the Sweet November 2024 MerMay clear release Instagram Hop for a chance to win all 13 of the new sets. So for my cards today I am sharing both of the little 2x3 mermaids, Finna and Pearla. First up is Finna and I've paired her with the cave opening stamp from the new The Deep Background Builder set. It's such a quick and easy way to frame and house any of our under the sea characters. I actually colored this scene during my review/preview Live, giving all of my viewers a sneak peek of some of the new stamps before they hit the shelves. 

Pearla is the second of our two mini mermaids and even though she looks rather shy, I chose to color her in eye catching golden hues. All of the little accessory images that I added to fill out the scene come from a variety of older stamp sets. The school of fish can be found in the Mermaid Hair set, the seaweed is from the  Seashells and Sunshine set, while the giant clam is from the Horizon Lines: Under the Sea set. I can't tell you whether Pearla has just found those rare treasures or if she is stashing them for safe keeping, LOL!
