Antique Box Centerpiece - Redressed

I've been enjoying my "antique box" centerpiece made by Mr. Nest
at Christmas time.
Actually, the wood was from the original shelving we had in our
closets 32 years ago!
He countersunk the screws, filled them with wood putty, and stained them
to make them look
like old pegs.

I had seen 2 on blogs and guessed at the height.....7 1/2 inches.
You probably can't tell from the picture above, but it was
a little too tall.
So after Christmas, Mr. Nest graciously agreed to
trim the box height down to 6 inches.
It really makes a huge difference - even Mr. N. thinks it's an improvement.

I'm working on the arrangement....
some newly purchased GW long needle  pine (wish I had been able to use it at Christmas!) and some hydrangeas, berries, and pods that I already had.

For those of you that wonder - like I did -
it measures 27 inches long (so that I can still seat people on each end), 6 inches tall, and 8 inches wide.
It works well for our tables.
Although, I loved the one Anita at Far Above Rubies had
that was 40+ inches in length 'cause she has a very long table. Love it!

Mr. Nest thinks the box needs some color - like red berries.
I sort of wanted neutral for an after-Christmas-winter look.
He may be right, though.

I'm anxious for someone else out there to build one of these so
that I can get some decorating inspiration!
Have a great week.....blessings,
Linda

Gosh, Linda, I couldn't even think what to put into my red wooden tote after I took the Christmas stuff out! Thank goodness I made those stuffed hearts ~ it gave me something to put in it! I don't know what I'm going to do after Valentine's Day.

What a pretty arrangement. My old box sits empty. I need to fill it with something, too.

Linda, Your "antique box" is great and isn't it fun to have something you can use for so many looks? Your hubby did a great job making it. I like your winter arrangement and don't you like the flameless candles? I have some with a timer which I like a lot.
My husband made one in the fall and I used it for Thanksgiving but I didn't do a post on it.
Hope you're having a great weekend,
Babs

Very nice. I'm missing the red, though. How about a few HEART picks? I found some nice wood ones at Michaels.
