It started out as just a head board and a foot board. |
Then I cut the foot board in half and attached each side to the headboard with my jr. Kreg jig joining system. |
After a lot of work, I built the whole box around it, including the lid. Each piece of wood was cut to fit. |
Finally I was ready to prime. With all the mis-matched wood, it looked pretty ugly. This is my favorite part! |
Since I had some red in my garage, and the frame itself is pretty heavy and more masculine, I went with red. |
It took multiple coats of paint to get it a nice even color. |
I decided to add black glaze to give it some texture and darkness. |
So I painted over the bright colors with black paint to show just a little bit. The coloring and texture go together better and it flows. |
And of coarse the toys must go inside. It is very deep to throw in the whole kids room of toys. |
I love it and I am very happy with the way it turned out. |

I really love this, hey whats the name of the red paint you used? I'm looking for a dark red for my kitchen nook table.
