the simplest things
I find myself returning to the same sorts of craft projects. Basic geometries, pale colors, simple composition. So after making the corbel garland, I was hardly surprised to find myself enamored with making more paper oak leaves. With the tried and true collage paper stripe method I’ve used time and again, featuring all sorts of disposable (aka junk mail) paper.
The funny thing about using printed paper with words is that when you mix it up enough, your brain does not try to decipher the pattern. It just looks like an interesting curlicue design blended with the color bands. I cut my paper stripes by hand, purposefully slicing through the words to accentuate the curvilinear patterns rather than the language.
The only new addition to this particular batch of collage shapes (besides the oak leaf geometry) is that I applied glitter spray to the shapes after making them. Oh how I adore this sparkle!
These pretty paper oak leaves will make an appearance on a couple of our Christmas trees. Or maybe as gift bow enhancers…depending on how many I make between now and then.
Thank you for dropping by ~ hope you’re having an absolutely wonderful day!
