This is why you never saw me post about our kitchen. The home
was built in 1927. When we purchased the home it had the 1985
remodel pictured above. Although we recognized the space was
outdated and not our taste, it somehow didn't bother us so long
as it was functional. As a result, we procrastinated in
updating the space. In fact, the reason we finally renovated
this year was because the appliances(refrigerator and stove)
were starting to give up and the ceramic tiles around the sink
began to fall off. Also, I've been propositioned to enter our
home in the neighborhood's annual home tour for 2012. A
really terrific designer and blogger Katie Denham of Katiedid also lives
here (another fact I can use to boast that our area is the
best!) and featured her home in the 2009 home tour. Her home is still being raved
about today and her kitchen was a show stopper and a stand out
favorite. I knew I had to do something to our space before I
opened the doors to the public.

square ft.
Because of its location and our budget, we were only
able to add 10 more square feet to the small space. We took
that space from the adjacent hallway behind the East wall of
the kitchen located directly behind the old electric oven which
contained a narrow utility closet that we only used to store
some tools.

Another affordable proposed solution which was within the
budget was to open the kitchen up to the current formal dining
room behind the south wall. For our family, that was not an
option. Both Dan and I are big lovers of traditional formal
dining rooms and so joining the two rooms was quickly ruled
out.

Just gorgeous, it looks like you totally changed everything, wow! I love the touch of elegance with the moldings and the paper. Yes,now with the gorgeous kitchen your home can be opened to the public and it'll be a show stopper too! Our kitchen is around that size, but it's also so perfect that I have space galore for storing pots, pens and anything you can imagine...it proves size is not an issue! Congrats you guys did a gorgeous job, I love it!! Have a super week. FABBY
This is so amazing. I was on your blog all weekend getting inspired.
What an awesome treat to come back here and see the kitchen makeover.
My favorite space of all times is your back yard. I still to this day look at it for tid-bits.

Julio, I love your new kitchen! I am so with you about NOT opening it up to the dining room. Love having the rooms separate and not looking into the kitchen while dining. It's perfect! I love how much thought you put into this...it's beautiful and so functional. I know the home tour will be amazing! Can't wait to see how you decorate for it.
I usually don't get excited over kitchen renovations, but your kitchen is a little jewel...efficient with an understated elegance, and appropriate for the age of the house. Perfect!
Your kitchen is gorgeous. So glad I found your blog. I look forward to snooping around.
WOW!! Your kitchen remodel is amazing!! I actually just posted our kitchen remodel as well:) We knocked the wall out between our dining room and kitchen to free up more space!! I love your cabinets. Looks amazing:)

You must feel like you are living in a dream! It's just beautiful! I love the soft colors and it really does look more spacious!
Very elegant! I like this versatile cart which can be used as a tabletop, too. I also do not like the kitchen open to the DR.
Money well spent... You really have a beautiful kitchen and what a dream to cook there.
Have a Great Week!

This looks fantastic, Julio! I think I'd keep walking into that kitchen just to look around! The cabinets are beautiful and I love the colors you went with in here. The appliques are a really nice touch on the cabinet doors. Your movable island is so functional! I like that you can use it for so many things.
Visiting from Met Monday! : )
What a wonderful transformation. It is fabulous. I can not resist to tell you that we have the same vent hood in our kitchen as you have :) all great men think alike :) just kidding:)
Oh, I forgot to comment dear Julio, that ours is not open to the dining room either, I don't like it as when I have guests I don't like the mess showing. Thanks for visiting, I was so glad to hear from you in a long time! I love to see what you are up to you're a great decorator darling. Can't wait to see the home tour! Have a super week. FABBY
Julio, this kitchen turned out so beautiful and elegant. I love the finish on the cabinets and the marble. Your silver accents (orchid and moss ball) are amazing. The wallpaper is perfect. Money well spent indeed! Enjoy your new space. You will be a jewel in next years home tour!
Simply beautiful! I always follow your blog but don't comment. Can't keep quiet this time. Kudos to you guys for turning that outdated kitchen area into a showplace and so much more! Thank you for sharing.
You must be so proud of this kitchen renovation and rightly so. It is beyond beautiful. I am at a loss of words...my mouth is still agape! I would absolutley love this in my home but just not this home..maybe my next and final home! Enjoy your beautiful kitchen.
Wow are you sure this is the same kitchen? UNREAL! What a beautiful job you did, love the color, all the beautiful accents and the wallpaper adds so much. Also love the moldings you added, just gorgeous. I bet you are so enjoying it..congrats!
