Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop March 2021

Here it is! This month's Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop featuring a Mood Board Theme Challenge. I have to admit I was a little intimidated by this month's challenge. I have never completed a "Mood" board before. I drew my inspiration from my teenage daughter. She was able to show me a few examples of her mood boards that she shares with her friends.

My current mood is...Sea, Sand, & Sun!!!

We live in Colorado. If you are current on national events then you probably heard Colorado was hit with a major snowstorm last weekend. In fact, it has gone down in the record books as the fourth largest snowstorm in the state's history. DIA reported 27.1 inches of snow!!! We had blizzard conditions at my home in Berthoud. Some of the drifts in our backyard and driveway were at least 40 inches tall!

So with that in mind, I had purchased the Whale of a Time Suite before we moved back in October, but it had been sitting in a box. I'm so excited I finally had to chance to play with this Ocean inspired collection. The bright colors were just what I needed to enhance my mood this week.

Here are the colors that coordinate with this suite:
  • Calypso Coral
  • Bumblebee
  • Granny Apple Green
  • Just Jade
  • Pool Party
  • Pacific Point
  • Blackberry Bliss

I miss the sea. It's been a few years since we have visited Florida. This 3" x 3" card features the Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon and Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon. I also used the Everyday Label punch and Double Oval Punch. The letters were cut from the Playful Alphabet Dies in Pacific Point.

Notice the shaker element featured on this card. I placed Foam Adhesive Strips along the border of a large circle. You thin fill the area with a pinch of sequins. Place a window sheet over the top. Voila! You have a fun shaker element. The Whale of a Time Sequins are simply stunning and I knew I wanted to incorporate them somewhere on my page. Did you notice the tiny seashells? They are also mixed in with various round sizes as well.

Sea turtles were my inspiration for this card. I just love sea turtles. They are such an AMAZING sea creature. We were lucky enough to see sea turtles during our last trip to Cabbage Key in Florida. I fussy cut both the turtles you see here from one of the paper patterns and "popped" them up with dimensionals.

This card features A Whale of a good time! Some of the patterns on the Whale of a Time 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper are ideal for 3" x 3" cards. Simply cut the paper to size and use it as a background. The whale you see here was punched out from of the paper designs and layered on top of a stitched circle and a glimmer Hippo & Friends die cut. It's so cool when products coordinate together so easily!

Sand. Wishing I could walk along the beach and place my feet in the warm sand.

Notice the school of fish on this card. I stamped them in Just Jade. So cute. I also used the Whale Builder Punch to add some glimmer seaweed for a little bit of sparkle along the seabed.

Seahorses. Ever since I was little, I have always been fascinated with sea horses. They are so cute. For this card I fussy cut two seahorses that I stamped in Pretty Peacock Ink. I also used a 1" circle punch and cut the "waves" from one of the sheets of patterned paper. After I was done, I layered them on top of each other using dimensionals. Notice the seashells? You guessed it! They are from those adorable sequins I used earlier.

Sun. Wishing for some sunshine right now to help melt away the snow. The details on this card include the stunning Seabed 3D Embossing folder. Double Oval Punch, Tasteful Label Dies, and Hippo & Friends Die cuts. A also added a few pieces of ribbon and stapled them to the top of the card turning it into a tag!
