Scrapbooking Global April 2020 Blog Hop - A Blast From the Past

Updated: Apr 18, 2020

Welcome lovelies to our monthly Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop. On the third Thursday a talented group of scrapbookers get together from all over the world to create and share their beautiful designs with you! This month's theme is a A Blast From the Past thought up by the talented Sherry Roth.

I'm Sharni from Australia, you may have started here or just come from Sherry Roth.

Here is the lovely Scrapbook Global Blog Hop Team!

Today's blog was the fastest one I have ever made...I'm sure! This morning I called my parents and asked dad to download some photos from my childhood so I could create these pages...

...my amazing father keeps all of the photos on the computer now, he would have spent months/years changing slides, negatives and even vintage photos to files! And I am sure most of them are dated with descriptions! (I wish I was that organised).

Anyway, within a few hours he sent these photos through to me and I printed them out at home - as we can't leave our homes for non essential reasons.

While waiting, I did something I rarely do, and that is start backwards...create the scrapbook pages without a photo. I knew I was going to go black and white with the photos, so trying to match the colours of my page to my photos wasn't an issue.

I wanted to go for a vintage sort of look...even though it's only the 1970's...but knowing these shots would be from Darwin, Northern Territory, I thought it was appropriate to either do 'earthy' or tropical. I didn't have any tropicana type paper so earthy it was!

I was thrilled to see that I had two matching 12x12" pieces of the wooden background DSP left from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper, so I built the design up from there.

These are memories from our time we lived in Darwin, Northern Territory (Australia) in the 1970's! ...I was 2 years old, so my memories are pretty limited! I will have a chat to mum to get more details about the photos and stories behind them hopefully this week.

My sister Kylie is 3 years older than me, so she is the bigger/older child in the photos.

As you can see, I did LOTS of layers - I used Nature's Roots Dies for the leaves and 3 different sized flower punches.

I stamped the leaves with Early Espresso and the Fanciful Fragrance Stamp Set.

All the other products I used are listed below at the very bottom.

Well, that's all for now, thank you for spending some time with me today I hope you enjoy viewing my work and have gained some ideas and inspirations.

loves and hugs,

Sharni.x
