Scrapbooking Global September 2019 Blog Hop - What Little Boys are Made Of

Hello lovelies, welcome to another fun Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop! This month our Mystery Guest Designer is Sherry Roth. She has set her theme as 'What Little Boys Are Made Of'. How cute! Our son Angus is nearly 20 years old now...but to me, he is still my 'little boy!'

My name is Sharni and I'm from Australia, you may have started here or come from the wonderful Marga. Either way, grab a cup of tea, sit back and enjoy the hop!

I'm dying to see what super cute (? and funny?) designs everyone has created for their little boys this month.

This is Sherry Roth, our guest designer for the month. Congratulations Sherry!

Because our 'little boy' is all grown up, I decided to use an old photo of when Angus was about 3 years old. I have used the Hand-Lettered Prose Dies to cut out 'little boy' from Sahara Sand Cardstock.

I stamped a whole lot of words that I thought best suited how I feel about Angus and many words of encouragement. These sentiments came from 11 different stamp sets (all current) that I will list in my supplies list at the end.

I stamped with Soft Suede and Basic Grey onto Vellum, then once dry, I gently tore the vellum into strips and attached to the page.

You can see I used sandpaper on the actual photograph (gasp!), then mounted it onto some Whisper White and a layer of Soft Suede. Both layers were given texture using a destressor (or you can use your scissors) to rough up the edges, I also sponged the edges with Basic Grey and drew some soft lines with my Smokey Slate Marker around the edges.

I used the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder on some Basic Grey A4 Cardstock and then ripped it & placed underneath the layers mentioned above.

So here is our gorgeous little boy. The patterned navy paper is from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper (yes, it's Christmas paper - how versatile is that?) I just ripped it up and placed it underneath the photo.

I do like to do double pages as it always sits better in my scrapbook albums, so I chose the most recent photo I have of Angus - touring the town on a bike in Belgium on his last Orienteering competition representing Australia.

I really just repeated the same theme, techniques and layout from the first page but 16 years later!

I repeated the vellum tag that I attached with a tiny brad to the photo, and added more Clear Epoxy Drops to the page.

The second photo I ripped down to a smaller size and attached it over the main one for some visual interest.

I also journaled on this page (always important!!)

So there you have it! Our little and big boy! I have actually described what I believe he is made of in my journaling...we love him very much and are very proud of him.

Well that's all for now, I hope you have enjoyed my pages, thank you for visiting and have a fantastic day!
