Cute Cards

Made this card for a friend who recently gave his wife a convertible for her 60th birthday. They resemble this couple, including the small family dog (that he named Brutus!) Used a retired stamp from a company named Diamonds that is no longer in business. (I bought it at a thrift store last fall for $4 and have recently seen one on EBay selling for $50-$60!) I used an old South Dakota map for the background, and had fun creating a sentiment to go with this card. The inside reads, "Bet you like to speed because you have to get where you’re going before you forget where you’re going! (PS- Hope your birthday is unforgettable!)"
Am entering the card into several challenges including The Paper Shelters Summer Vibes (because in Wisconsin convertibles are proof that summer has arrived.)

I love making cards for the Callin' All Sistahs Challenge, mainly because I have so many friends right now that are battling breast cancer, and other types of cancer. I love sending this encouragement cards, and this challenge provides me with inspiration to make those cards. This month's Inspiration Photo has a dark background with beautiful rich and vibrant colored flowers. For my card I included the dark background, but instead of the flowers, I used the vibrant color scheme on a sweet fairy image from Craftin' Desert Diva Digi set named "Magical Day" and the Sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps digi set named "Fantasy Sheet 2" (which  might be retired as I can't find it on their website.) I remembered an unusual card fold that I tried to replicate from memory. It worked, but the card would not stand up so, after a few attempts, I added  a card base that was large enough to bear it's weight. Tonight, I stumbled upon the original instructions and discovered how to make the card correctly. So… I'll be trying this again using these instructions-

The new CAS-ual Fridays Challenge includes a photo inspiration of fireworks. As soon as I saw it, I knew that I had to use one of my favorite digi images from Di's Digi's to create a whimsical 4th of July card. I printed the digi, colored it with Spectrum Noir markers, then fussy cut it and mounted it on the "inside" of a die-cut window card. I substituted fireworks scrapbook paper for the moon, adding a layer of vellum to mute the colors so that the digi image would stand out. I also mounted a scrap of starry red paper as backing for the card front. It brightens the inside of the card and also covers the tape that holds the fireworks background paper in place. The sentiments were created on my computer and printed off. (Oh, and I just checked and the digi image, named "Love to the Moon and Back" is on sale right now for just $2.00. You can find it here- www.disdigistamps.com)
