A Weekend of Crafting (Part 2)

My entry in Beccy's Place Fifth Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge for the letter "J" is Jingle Bells. For this card, I used a sentiment from one of Beccy's digi sets (named "Finn's Bells) and a favorite image (Eunice) from Art Impressions (AI).   Made a tag to enter into AI's current challenge, plus the Deep Ocean Challenge, "Inspired by a Song/Movie." My card is inspired by the song, "Jingle Bell Rock".  (Eunice does look like she is ready to rock! I usually give her red hair, but for this challenge, I gave her a shiny black pompadour, ala Elvis!) And, of course, there are jingle bells attached to the tag, three to be exact!

My final entry into the Simon Says Monday Challenge is full of sparkles from an embossing powder named Iridescent Peacock. I can't find it anymore so use it sparingly. It works especially well on fall leaf cards like this one. I first stamped the leaf image (no idea of the company, it’s a clear stamp with no logo) with fine line black EP. Colored the leaf in with a clear embossing pen and then sprinkled the EP over it. When the heat hits it, the color fun begins! The sentiments are both from Printworks.

In 1998 I attended an SU party… and my love of stamping started. Within a few months I signed up as a demonstrator and my mom hosted one of my first classes. We quickly became stamping buddies. A year later, when a friend and I opened a stamp store in Watertown South Dakota, my mom was one of our biggest "cheerleaders." When she passed away a few years ago I inherited her stamp collection and think of her every time I use any of them. This one, from a company named "Eureka" is a favorite! Am entering it into the QKR Challenge (where you can now buy Eureka stamps). Provided a watermark image of the original so you can see it. The balloon is cut from a clear red document folder. (You can find them in office supply stores. They are often cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.)
Entered the card into two additional challenges. I used the color scheme on the mood board at SumMoreFun Challenge and used a TLB sentiment.

Have been having fun making cards to enter into the current Christmas Cards all Year Round" challenge because it focuses on three of my favorite food groups- Candies, Cookies or Gingerbread! Found this story on the web (looked for some time to try to find the author, but had no luck. (If anyone can provide that info, please do so!) I fussy cut the M&Ms from a calendar. But would have happily invested in a bag of the sweet treats if needed.

  2. Oh, what a fabulous stamp Kathy, Eunice is wonderful! I love her glasses and her wavy hair, which you coloured perfectly. I also like the addition of the three jingle bells.
The leaf stamp on your second card is beautiful, as is the fabulous peacock embossing powder... I can understand why you use it so sparingly.
I enjoyed reading the story behind your kitty card Kathy, what a lovely way to remember your Mum.
The M&Ms card is fabulous Kathy, I've never seen that before. It looks like something that would be taught at Sunday school. I like the bright paper you added in the background, it works perfectly with the candies.
    Cheers,
    Beccy
