Another very good Mac mystery, third in that series, originally known as Prey for Me. Mac’s phone number is found marked in the apartment of a dead woman, discovered nude on the carpet. The dead woman seems to have two names and it turns out that she has taken the identity of another woman. Mac digs into both of their pasts, finding romantic longings for the surviving woman. Mac is always a bit melancholy, but always a decent guy, helping out people just to help, rather than putting up a front as a typical tough-guy private eye.
