It’s time for the week 5 update, ummmm……didn’t I just start this 2 weeks ago? This week our accomplishments include, staining the old handrail and installing it, finding dinnerware, putting up most of the gazebo and we even managed to order the rope lights and clips and even start installing it! We’ve still got a lot to do before next week!
The lights are up and we even put them going down the stairway, which is awesome! The LED light is quite a bit brighter than our old rope light which gave more of a soft romantic warm glow. These are kind of like party at our house, hope the planes don’t think this is the runway kind of lights.
Clean paint/stain off all the 200 (feels like 2 million) spindles – if anyone knows what to use to do this, I would love your input.
Build something cool by the window/hot tub wiring area
Stain and Install top hand rail boards
Install rope lighting- just ordered this last night
String Lights and/or Chandelier Lighting for gazebo?
Accessories and decor
So you know, it’s only one week until we reveal the final space and we’ve decided to build some things. This is so like us, last minute and winging it! I love it! Hubby has plans drawn up for a bar cart/storage thing. Seriously though, I am excited that my man is going to create this all from inside his brain!
So while he is busy building, I will be busy drinking wine and supervising. Then when I’m done, I will very carefully cut the wine bottles and make a chandelier for the gazebo.
Or at least I think that’s how it’s going to work. This morning while running out to the curb in my pajamas with bed head to grab an empty wine bottle from our recycling bin, I saw my neighbor walking her dog. I then had to explain to her why I was digging through the bin and had a big wine bottle in hand. She then told me she had a glass cutter and some (empty) wine bottles to donate to my project! Happy Day friends, happy day! Have I ever told you how much I love my neighborhood? Seriously, even without wine bottle donations and glass cutters, we have it going on in our cul de sac. This could be a total bust, I guess you’ll find out next week, right? And I know, don’t drink and cut glass, don’t worry!
Don’t forget, I’ve been pinning lots of awesome ideas like these over on my pin board!
Finally, this week we also decided to order another Intex Pool, this time we went with the 24 x 52. We have been so blessed by friends who have given us their pools the past few years. Unfortunately we outgrew our last pool so we passed it along to someone else.
So after the ORC is done, we will continue on with our Outdoor Oasis by working on the pool area in our yard. Stay tuned for more on that after the ORC.
Don’t forget to check out all the awesome posts by the 20 featured designers and also the participant linkups like myself. Linda at Calling it Home deserves a huge shoutout for all her hard work with the ORC!

Thanks Lisa! We are both crazy and amazing, lol. Hubby is out there grouting right now and hopefully the rain holds off for a bit and the sun comes out tomorrow morning so I can take pics and post. The spindles didn’t get cleaned. Ha!
