Perfection!

The minute we entered our book club hostess’s dining room, there were collective ooohhs and aaahhs as we first glimpsed her table.  Not only was it beautiful, in fact performance art, it was a perfect setting for the book we were to discuss.

The book, a delightful story of the relationship between a memory impaired professor, his housekeeper and her son, was written by a Japanese author and set in that country.

Our hostess just happened to have lovely and very old Japanese dolls

which provided the focal point for each of the two tables.

An avid gardener, the hostess had only to step outside her door to find the right blooms with which to complete a stunning centerpiece.

Complementing the flowers, the table was set with a delicate and simply elegant pink and white floral design china.  The print tablecloth added a touch of whimsy.

The lettuce leaves would soon be filled with a tasty assortment of summer savories and spring rolls that were in keeping with the theme of the day.

Not to be forgotten, the cheese board that we nibbled on while our hostess finished her preparations.

No doubt the table contributed to a lively discussion of The Housekeeper and the Professor and, for sure, impressed us all with its loveliness.  Don’t you love it when someone goes the extra mile?

By the way, if you are looking for a quick and good read, this book is worthwhile.
