Nature Congrats! for #GDP031

“Acting deals with delicate emotions.  It is not putting up a mask.  Each time an actor acts he does not hide; he exposes himself.”

~Jeanne Moreau

Good Morning and thanks for popping by!  I always look forward to Monday mornings to see what the weekly Global Design Project over at http://global-design-project.com/ will bring.  This week it is a Theme Challenge and the theme is “Nature”.

I wanted to combine the challenge with a card for a young friend that was in a play over the weekend.  It was a bit of a challenge to combine the two, and I only had a half an hour, but I think it turned out pretty good.  When I went to put the top panel on, though, it wanted to be tilted, even though I didn’t originally plan it to be that way.  The “congrats” sentiment came out a tiny bit crooked and I didn’t have time to redo it, so the “artsy” angles hide it a bit!  Our family starts setting up this morning for a big Garden Show that our oldest son Jonathan has an exhibit in this coming weekend, so that is why I’m so pressed for time.  It’s going to be a super busy week so I’m not sure if I’ll be back on line.  If not, just a reminder to Stamping Peacers…our childrens class is this Friday, and regular classes are next Monday morning, Monday night and Tuesday morning.  Back to the card, the mask was made with the Mustache framelit.  The eyes were cut out with a little framelit from the Chalk Talk collection.  The feathers were cut out with the Feather Framelits.  The DSP is the new Botanical Gardens collection.  Colors are Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, Old Olive and Cajun Craze.  Okay, sorry to rush but I’m off to the Cross Center!  Have a fantastic week!

  1. Hi Dawn, First, have a great week and take care of yourself. This card has great color. I love the layers. I love the ribbon and dots. I love the mustache/mask. So super!
    🙂

    • Thanks Nancy! We worked 13 hours on the display yesterday, getting ready to go back at it today. It’s so exciting! The card turned out cute for a quick one, can’t wait to mail it out. One of our Boy Scout friends was in his school performance of The Little Mermaid. They did an awesome job! 🙂

  2. Dawn, you sound like a busy lady! This card really caught my eye. I love how you created the mask. Great card. Thanks for playing along this week at Global Design Project. Have a great week!

    • Busy this week for sure Connie! My oldest son owns a Landscaping Company and the whole family is helping him with a display at the Bangor (Maine) Garden Show. It’s a lot of fun! 🙂

  3. This is a great card, Dawn! I love your “dramatic twist” on the nature theme. 🙂 I’m sure the card was adored by the recipient. Thank you so much for playing along with this week’s Global Design Project theme challenge.
