Sweet and Sour Meatballs
A few months ago (almost a year) my Sister-in-Law Sara had her first baby and when we asked her what she wanted us to give her, she told us freezer meals. At first I was a little more than worried because I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull it off, but with a little bit of help from Mr. SMSL we were able to deliver. We ended up making seven family size meals so that way they had one for a dinner and then they could eat leftovers for lunch the next day. So the first thing we did, was make up a menu.
So as you can see they had several yummy choices and some of the recipes could be used for other meals. So we bought disposable pans, and got to work on the freezer meals!! It only took 3 hours from start to finish if you don’t include Cooling time, but since they went straight to the freezer it wasn’t a big deal for us!

Sweet and Sour Meatballs
The Sweet and Sour Meatballs are easy to make once you have the meatballs cooked through. Use 1 pound ground turkey or beef, a few green onions chopped up and of course some garlic seasoning sprinkled in. I also use a cup of bread crumbs to help bind them together with one egg mixed into the mix. Then bake at 350 °F until brown.
Then it is time to make the sauce which is easy as pie!!
1 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1 ½ cup water
¼ cup vinegar
3 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
Cook until heated and starts to thicken, take off the heat and pour over meatballs. Then serve the sweet and sour meatballs over a bed of rice. Or if you prefer plate them up like above, stick in a skewer and dip them into a bowl of sweet and sour sauce. Either way you go these meatballs are a quick freezer meal that we love to have on hand!

what a great idea for those expecting. It can be super difficult to make a homecooked meal when having to deal with a new little one. Thanks for linking up with Delicious Dishes Recipe Party!
