Golden Slumbers Christmas Pajamas

Make your kids' Christmas pajamas with this fun pattern. Sewn by Mabey She Made It.Its the week after Thanksgiving–can you believe it? And after all the hustle of Black Friday I’m sure your attention is turned to the Christmas season. Mine certainly is. There are a lot of Christmas traditions out there, and one of the most widely-held is Christmas pajamas for everyone. My family is no exception.

So pull out your fabric and go grab the Golden Slumbers pattern from Shwin Designs. It makes perfect Christmas pajamas! It will also make great summer nightgowns too.

I’ve wanted to make pjs for my girls for quite a while, and just hadn’t gotten around to it. I even found two thrifted sheets that worked perfectly together and only cost me $7. Wahoo! And between the two sheets, I got 4 tops and 7 pairs of pajama pants (including two for me and one for Maya, which I drafted myself). So since Shauna gave me the pattern, that’s roughly $1 per pair of pjs. You just can’t beat that price.

I made them one size too big for both girls because I wanted them to be able to wear them for a long time. And Saige just keeps getting taller so I always use the length from a larger size for her. Of course, I get in the habit of adding to Saige’s and cut Brynley’s with 2 extra sizes of length too. She doesn’t need any extra length. Ha! But she’ll get lots of use out of them.

They’re a nice roomy fit since the pattern is intended for wovens, and I love that they have matching Christmas pajamas but with alternating prints so they can tell them apart.

And of course I had to let little sis into the photo shoot with her little Christmas pajama pants even though I drafted them myself (she’s a tiny girl, and won’t fit into the 12-18 month size for a while).

They had so much fun jumping and playing ring around the rosies for this photo shoot. It just makes me love having three sweet girls who play together.

Pattern Details:

Pattern Name and Designer: Golden Slumbers Pajamas by Shwin Designs

Price: $9

Size Range: 12-18 Months to 8

Pattern Options: Pajama pants, raglan top, and nightgown

Size I Made: 3 and 5

What I Like: Classic look that can be used over and over and easy construction

What I Don’t Like: I prefer to have my waistband as part of the pant pieces, but this version includes a separate casing. I’ll do it my way next time.

Modifications: I added length to the pants and used Kam snaps (affiliate) instead of buttons so my kids could get dressed faster.t

Would I Sew it Again: Yes. I love the classic look of these pjs, and we regularly need new pajamas for growing girls. I think the girls will like the nightgown this summer.

Thanks Ajaire, new pjs are a fun luxury. 🙂 And random question, but is the “J” silent in your name?

I'd love to hear your thoughts–leave me a comment!

Welcome to Mabey She Made It, my cozy corner dedicated to all things homemade and delightful. One of the greatest things I learned while growing up was to know what “home” felt like. Creating feels like home to me, and I’m at home when an idea translates into something beautiful or functional.
