Faux Grain Sack Runner & Bargains

I have a great little faux grain sack runner,
imspired by  Sherry at No Minimalist Here
who was inspired by
to come up with this little gem.

The nice thing about it is that it is toweling
and the sides are already hemmed.
I just turned the ends, ironed, and stitched the ends.
I made 2 in 10 minutes!
The other one has red stripes like Sherry's and Kathy's.

I think Kathy and Sherry got their toweling at fabric.com,
but that site was out of it by the time I got there, so I got my toweling at Quilters Studio.
Lots of color choices! - I saw that Marty at A Stroll Thru Life
made a pretty one, too!

It only took 2 yards for my table and it has the perfect amount of overhang.
Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict has another great idea in mind for this toweling.

I'm having some great luck drying hydrangeas.
I'll be back to tell you what is working for me!

I found this fabulous old leather book mixed in with the GW books for $2.50
I have no idea how it ended up there, but this is my best book find. Ever.

I keep looking for an old edition of
Julia Child's book - "Mastering the Art of French Cooking".
                                                                   Haven't found it yet.

each talked ourselves into matching little urns and then
found this cute green spikey thing to go in the urns.

My hydrangeas are drying nicely.
Hopefully it'll continue and I'll tell you what works for me!

Have a great weekend!
Blessings,
Linda

Oh I love your runner. Isn't that fabric just the most fun. Love yours on your table and it is set so pretty. The book is an unreal find. They are so hard to come by. Great urns also. Thanks in advance for linking to TTT. Hugs, Marty

Thanks for the link to the toweling Linda...it will make perfect handtowels for my kitchen!

Do you have a library or just collect books to use for decorating? I love having books around the house and my hubby is an avid reader so it's just as well I do.

Hugs,
Sandi

Keep looking! I have a first edition of Julia's book and still pull it out to use on a regular basis.

Can't beat her pate recipes.

Your table runner is super, I want one too!
Please do tell what the secret is to drying hydrangeas. I try every year but am always disappointed with the results.

Hi Linda, I too saw Sherry's post and just today ordered my second fabric, the first was for the top of my small cabinet and the second will be for a table runner for my dining room. I got the red and it's super pretty! Sherry always has such great tips and is so generous to share. Yours turned out great! I honestly can't tell the difference they look so amazing.

Really like the urn.
Are you drying hydrangeas using glycerine and water or the hang upside down in warm, dark closet method?

Love the runner Linda and I guess I should have purchased that box of leather books the other day at an estate sale...they were only $10 for the box (I just didn't really need them). Looking forward to seeing how you are drying your flowers.

Blessings,
Linda

Love the runner. went surfing to find the fabric. Had bought it locally and paid a fortune for it to make some Christmas towels but never thought of a runner.. duhh But found it for $4 something a yard at fabric depot tonight. Great deal. Love your finds! Can't wait to see your drying method as you know I am a flop at that.
