Chippy Shelf

I think I paid $12 for this cool chippy shelf.

I got it at a sale back in May.  2 times a year this couple has a sale in their barns.  The husband loves to go to auctions and buy things.  They have 1 barn devoted to knick knacks, another devoted to furniture (most of which he has refinished), an covered outdoor section devoted to tools and then they have a lot of stuff  scattered around outside.  It is all very organized and it’s a great sale.  And even better…..they have great prices!

I actually missed this shelf the first time I passed it.  I only spotted it when I went back to the car to retrieve my purse and spotted it under a table on my way back into the sale.

I put the shelf on my work counter.  I’ve just been putting stuff on it, but haven’t really styled it.  Currently I have some decorative items on it, however, I envision this shelf holding supplies, doo-dads, or whatever I might use to “create”.

I purchased this spice rack at an estate sale, and hope to fill it up with German Glass Glitter.  I have one color…I just need more.

Look at this chippy goodness:

I recently picked up the “sale” letters at an estate sale for $15.  Really more than I wanted to spend…but they are real wood.  The letters were so perfectly old looking, that I initially thought they were some sort of composite.  However, the corner of the “S” has been chipped off and it reveals solid wood.

The letters have hangers on the back for hanging on the wall.

But what am I going to do with “Sale” letters?  I’m going to get up the nerve to alter the “E” and turn it into an “I” so I can spell this (excuse the poor Photoshopping):

What do you think?  Would you cut it down?  Because I really don’t have a use for a “Sale” sign like that.

Here is the final view of the shelf from the side.

Oh, and if you are wondering why I have a large stick on the top of this shelf – I brought it inside the house to use as a handle for the toolbox I am going to make for Funky Junk’s SNS 84 (and no I didn’t just find it, I’ve had it here for at least a month and still haven’t built the toolbox).
