GDP#006 – All about the angles

I always look forward to seeing what challenge is up at Global Design Project each Monday. Then I spend the next few days working out what to make.

Well this week, I was making a card for my monthly stamp club class on this coming Saturday and my lovely friend, Emma at Vintage Graffiti, suggested with a few tweaks, my card would suit this week’s challenge.

So I tweaked it and here we are!! I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest where a white gel pen was used to highlight the leaves on the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set. I wanted the focus to be the Garden Green tree so I stamped the background tree on the Real Red cardstock with Real Red ink.

I then stamped the tree using the new Basic Black ink and cut out using the matching Leaflets framelits (try saying that fast!!). I then highlighted the petals using the Stampin’ Chalk marker.

I then assembled it all together and added a banner using the stamp from the Flurry of Wishes set and my favourite punch, Banner triple punch.

I think it’s kinda cute!!

I’d love to hear what you think, so please leave me a comment below.

Update – I’m excited to share that this card was chosen as a winner for this challenge!! Excited much!! Thank you so much, GDP!!!

  1. Rebecca – I love the tree you’ve created – and it really pops against that vast Real Red backdrop. What a wonderful interpretation of this sketch!. I’m so happy you played along with this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge. Thanks!

  2. WOW!!! I adore this card Rebecca. The tree is super cute and love that you stamped it on green with the white gel pen….very clever. A beautiful, clean and delightful Christmas card.
Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous card with us over at the Global Design Project this week. Louise xo

  3. Love the card Rebecca. I think the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set makes a perfect Christmas card and I love how you’ve accented it with the white gel pen. It makes all the elements really ‘pop’.

  4. Love that card Rebbeca, had not really thought much of that stamp set, but then your creativity has shown it in another light.
