NEW RELEASE........
New Addition to the Love in Bloom Series, Seized by Love, Book #1 The Ryders

YOU FELL IN love with Blue Ryder and Lizzie Barber in Seaside Summers, now follow their journey to find true love in SEIZED BY LOVE, the first book in the Ryder series.

Lizzie Barber runs a successful flower shop by day and secretly hosts the Naked Baker webcast at night to help pay for her younger sister’s education. To keep friends and family from finding out about her sexy secret, she’s put her social life on hold until her sister’s education is paid off and she can stop filming the webcast.

Blue Ryder fell hard for Lizzie Barber when he met her a year ago, and he hasn’t been able to get her off his mind since. Everything about the feisty little brunette, from her tight bod to her seductive smile, cuts straight to his heart. Though Lizzie has turned down every invitation he’s extended—Blue is not about to give up trying.

Renovating Lizzie’s kitchen brings Blue further into Lizzie’s life, and the oven is not the only thing heating up. One night and one powerful kiss changes everything. But when Lizzie’s secret is revealed and the safe bubble she’s hidden in shatters, true love may not be enough to put the pieces back together.

My Review:

Seized by Love is the first in "The Ryders" series from Melissa Foster. In the spirit of the Bradens and the Remingtons, Melissa Foster introduces us to the Ryder family. Blue Ryder first met Lizzie Barber in the group wedding set in the Seaside Summers series. In the year since they met, Blue has been relentlessly asking Lizzie out, with no success. I love Blue's dedication. He decided that he was interested in Lizzie and was patient in waiting until she was ready. He is confident and strong but sensitive at the same time. I love his open and loving relationships with his siblings, and especially with his parents. He and his parents have a wonderful, open relationship where Blue is comfortable sharing with them, and seeking their counsel. Its a very healthy parent/child relationship, even in adulthood. Blue is a wonderful character who knows his strengths and his faults, and readily acknowledges where he falls short of his own expectations in his relationship with Lizzie. He demonstrates a lot of growth throughout this book, but honestly, I loved him from the beginning and I'm not sure I can put in words what it is about Blue that makes him an especially endearing character.

Contrast Blue's family with Lizzie's family dynamic. Her reluctance to get involved with Blue is rooted in what's going on in her life. She's involved in certain activities to support her sister's college education. Activities that could estrange her from her parents, a relationship that is strained at best, due to her parents strictly conservative views. Lizzie's unwillingness to stop her current activities, and the additional time commitment makes fitting in a relationship difficult at best. I struggled a bit with Lizzie for a while, mainly because she feels ashamed with what's she's doing. As a result, Lizzie doesn't share this information with Blue up front, and its something that has the potential to have a huge impact on their relationship. Not that I specifically haven an option regarding Lizzie's "activities", but if she felt ashamed of her activities, perhaps that should be a clue that she could reconsider what she's doing. But fundamentally, it was something that she should have disclosed to Blue before he fell head over heels for her. It made accepting Lizzie's activities more difficult for me as a reader because she withheld the information from Blue. It took a while for Lizzie to redeem herself in my eyes. But by the end, she did.

I also like that the author first introduced a major hurdle / challenge to Lizzie and Blue's relationship early - typically the couple has a longer period to develop their relationship and have a solid foundation before something happens to shake that foundation. In this book, the author introduces the strife in their relationship sooner, and gives the characters more time to dig into how they work through their challenges and come out the other end successfully.

The level of detail of the sexual activities described in the book is pretty consistent with Melissa Foster, but Lizzie and Blue's sexual relationship had some more "intimate" aspects that felt new to me in a Melissa Foster book. It appears the author is exploring a bit of sexual variety in her writing that I find interesting.
