Time Out DT #36, My Favorite Things Summer School Lesson #10, SSS Monday 20/7, SSS Wednesday 22/7

We have our Designer to CASE (with your own twist) this fortnight at Time Out … the designer we’re CASEing is the amazing Alice, who can be found at Alice’s Little Wonderland.  Alice’s card is pretty, cute and fun (it’s a little further down) … here’s my take on it …

Time Out DT 36, MFTSS2 5, SSSM 20-7, SSSW 22-7Time Outand here’s Alice‘s inspiration …

The design elements I picked out were the layout and the coloured backdrop to the popped up die cut … my twist was going sparkly rather than cute … and all that yummy white space!  I cut two My Favorite Things circles … one off the edge of a white card panel and a size larger to go behind it.  The larger one was sponged with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and splattered with Perfect Pearl mixture (to imitate sun sprinkled water), trimmed to fit and adhered flat to the card base.  I cut the two piece Clearly Besotted dragonfly in glitter paper (top) and vellum (bottom), fixed the two parts together just at the body, and she fluttered down onto her own personal shimmery pool.  The WPlus9 sentiment was stamped onto the already cut panel, I added a Stickles trail and popped the panel up on foam tape on the base, making sure the dragonfly’s wings were free to flutter.   Here’s a close up of all the shimmer …

Time Out DT 36, MFTSS2 5, SSSM 20-7, SSSW 22-7 DetailHow will Alice‘s card inspire you … and what will be your twist?  There’s so much to play with here … you could focus on the kraft, cute image, DP, washi, enamel dots, layout, even the sentiment … just have fun!  Do hope you’ll find time to join in with with us!  There’s heaps of inspiration over at the Time Out blog … from our fabulous DT and from our talented Guest Designer, Rema from RT Impressions!  Look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

My Favorite Things Summer School Lesson 10 – Monochromatic … I used the blue/green shades from the colour wheel shown … there are five of them!

Wow! I love, love, love the “landing pad” (quoting Darnell) that you created for the beautifully ‘free layered’ dragonfly! The stickles trail does an awesome job of creating lovely movement! Adore your card….but for some crazy reason, I’m afraid of dragon flies in real life! I know…sissy pants me!

Your card made me smile – I’ve been thinking about what little bits I can send to you and thought you’d like some die cut dragonflies. But maybe not…lol So much gorgeousness in this Anita – love how you’ve created that blue, inky backdrop. So pretty!

Splendid look with the partial circle cut & the inlay behind the circle. A perfect roost for the sparkly dragonfly. Liked the way the vellum was used as the underlay too. And I love the way you added the little dragonfly trail on the crisp white. This is stunning! TFS & have a great weekend!

This card is SoooOooOOo pretty! I am impressed with how simple it is, yet it is also filled with so many amazing details! That shimmer is incredible and I love how you made the dragonfly dimensional. The glittery curly-cue is adorable and I really like how you created this scene. Thank you for sharing your talents with us for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

Very, very beautiful! I’ve studied the card and the instructions very closely, but doubt if I could repeat any of it. Love that a tiny part of the circle falls outside the card. Clever! And the shimmer and double dragonfly … Is the vellum part also cut though like the top part of the dragonfly?
