Ice Cream Cone Button Art

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream!” I don’t know about you but in my house, everything is made better with a nice big bowl of yummy, creamy and cold ice cream! Or, a delicious cone with a great big mouth watering scoop of ice cream on top! Yummy in my tummy! But, as today’s adorable project shows…ice cream isn’t just for eating. Mary is sharing an ice cream inspired button art that looks delicious and so absolutely yummy hanging on your wall or sitting on your shelf. Enjoy!

Hello all!! Mary back from Little Mama Bowtique with a refreshing, quick tutorial to squeeze into all your summer activities! I wanted to use something I had an abundance of in my “ahem” hoarders worthy craft stash and I thought how about that button box?? I have seen some really cute pictures made out of buttons and with summer in full swing I thought an ice cream cone was the way to go! You could also do this with any photo, think lemons, trees, etc!!

Supplies you will need:
• 8 x 10 frame in white (you could go larger or smaller if you want)
• 8 x 10 burlap and sheet of white paper
• Tan and pink buttons
• Scissors and glue gun

Pretty in Pink Button Jar Latte Color Blend Strawberry Sparkle Buttons
Buttons
I always keep a stash of frames on hand and then paint them the color I want as projects pop into my head. I pick them up at garage sales for under a buck or in this case was lucky enough to dip into a pile from a friend. Paint is super inexpensive and with the summer heat I did a few coats in a short amount of time.

Remove the glass inside. I used the glass to measure my burlap and white paper and cut those out. Glue the edges of the burlap down to the white paper underneath, be careful as glue will come through the burlap, don’t burn yourself! Insert this into your frame.

I used a template because I can’t draw to save my own life. The one I found here was perfect for an 8 x 10 frame. Print and cut out the template and color the pieces, then glue down to your burlap. I colored the ice cream cone pieces because even though the buttons cover most, some places show through a little.

I started with the cone and used the button mix using the Latte Blend found here, which was the perfect amount and colors for the cone!!

I chose to make my ice cream pink, the Pretty in Pink Button Jar here and Sparkle Button in Strawberry here are great mixes for your pink ice cream. You of course can choose any color you like or even make rainbow ice cream! Once you have covered your top, you are done. Easy peasy right?!?! I made a display for our table in our front entrance and this was the perfect piece!!
