Memorial Day Weekend 2011

I just love red, white and blue. It may have something to do with being born close to Independence Day.  🙂

A special thanks to those who have served in our military and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we might be free today. And thanks to those who protect us today so that we can continue to be free. God Bless America and her military sons and daughters!

This was a quick set up as we decided at the last minute to have a cookout for our daughter and her boyfriend. My husband made his first barbecued chicken of the season. It was fabulous!

I used my Ruby Red Goblets and also my blue water glasses from Fortessa. We enjoyed vanilla ice cream with Mrs. Richardson’s Butterscotch Sauce in the Ruby Reds. They were perfect for this delicious and refreshing dessert. The table covering is from Kohl’s as are the coordinating napkins. The blue-handled flatware is a Walmart purchase from a few years ago.

The square blue-rimmed dinner plate is also made by Fortessa.

Atop this is a square red plate by Corsica purchased at Kohl’s several seasons ago.

The small plate with blue band and white stars by Totally Today is a recent Salvation Army Thrift find, thanks to my dish-spotter, ‘S’. She knows I love stars.

Lastly is the little star shaped dish which was quite handy to use for extra home-made barbecue sauce for dipping. These were also a thrift find.

We had a very nice time visiting and enjoying the first barbecued chicken of our grilling season. I hope your weekend was filled with fun, too.

This week I hope to join Marty’s Table Top Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life, and Susan’s Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

    Hi Tammy,

How nice that you have an “almost 4th of July birthday”! My Dad’s birthday is July 3rd, so we always have a combination cookout in our family. I also love red, white and blue, especially in the summer. Your table is so festive and patriotic. The combination of dishes is great, and I love your flatware and the napkins and tablecloth. Thanks for sharing!

    Hugs,
