did not like it

Every once in a while I have this illogical urge to read about dragons. I mean, they're a violent bunch of creatures, so a bit of arrrgh-roaarrrr-bitey-bitey-flame-throwing-kill-kill-kill is to be expected, right? Well, not according to Julie Kagawa's Talon. Nope, here we get a watered-down version of dragons who are tying to assimilate into the human world. Why, you ask? Well, because there's a big and scary human organisation hunting dragons, that's why. Duh. Sorry for my super snarky review, but holy crap this book did nothing to help me get a proper fantasy fix. By all means, read Talon again and just change the word dragon to werewolf and there you have it. A perfectly typical werewolf book that consists of all the usual tropes found in werewolf/vampire/zombie books.
Before Talon, I've never read a Julie Kagawa book. I heard she's not too shabby a fantasy writer and Talon's cover got me all excited and gooey, but I don't get the attraction to her work (judging solely based on my reading of Talon). The writing was tedious. The plot meh. Th characters ... effin' hell, Ember is such an unlikable character, especially with her constant whining and indecision.

"Oh, I'm a dragon in human form, in love with a human and a dragon. Woe always me!" *facepalm*

I repeat, sorry for the snark, but I really disliked this book. Granted, Talon isn't the worst book I ever read, but there's no way I'm going to continue with this series.

Just. Not. Worth. It.
