The theme for March's Monthly Motif is Genre Jumble. I'm trying to read from my shelves more this year and as I perused them I found them full of my favorite genres. What a surprise! So I dug deeper on the shelves and found this little gem that I bought at a thrift store after I'd read the series and was in love with all things Mitford. But I never read it because it's a cookbook and I hate to cook. Wanting to fulfill the challenge, I pulled it out and dived in. It has excerpts from the books that talk about certain foods being cooked for an occasion and then the recipe for said foods. It was really fun to re-visit Mitford in little chunks. The book has Louella's Fried Chicken, Esther's famous Orange Marmalade Cake, Dooley's Fried Baloney Sandwiches, and Cynthia's Lasagna, as well as other well-known dishes by the Mitford locals. A fun read, a lovely book, and some great recipes.
