Another great story. When Hester is accused of murder and taken to Edinburgh for trial, Monk and Rathbone try desperately to save her from the hangman's noose. In the process Monk uncovers many secrets in the Farraline family, some of his own forgotten past from the amnesia, and some new perceptions of Hester. As always, Perry brings alive the Victorian era with its social distinctions, oppression of women, and emerging crime solving techniques. Love these characters and stories!
