Happy Birthday @ Little Red Wagon

Christmas Eve! Just think, by this time tomorrow, Santa will have come and gone and some of us (depending on the time zone and how Christmas early bird the kiddies are, or if you celebrate Christmas, of course) will be already done the Christmas morning gift opening frenzy. I'm hoping we will still be at it, myself. I like to try to take the time to savour Christmas morning. I really, really enjoy watching my kids open their gifts. Would love to make them go one at a time, one gift at a time but I think I'm still a few years away from convincing them to do that.

Anyhoo, you're actually here for this.....

This week at

I'm hosting again and I've got an easy one for you, I just wanna see any and all projects with a birthday theme.

You know, like this.....

I made a belated birthday card for a blog buddy. In my defense, I didn't know it was her birthday until after her birthday had passed so it wasn't like I was technically late. Which is why I used this digi (a freebie from MelonHeadz Illustrating) and this sentiment, which basically says, "I know it's past your birthday but I don't feel the need to apologize for it as I really shouldn't have to take responsibility for being late as I didn't actually know when your birthday was but I still wanted to acknowledge the fact that it is now indeed after your birthday." Amazing I got that all condensed into three words. And managed a pun too. That's some Christmas magic at work right there.

When I showed this card to my completely and totally Farm Boy son I thought I'd hear it from him over the lack of authenticity.  Pigs in a pasture?!?!  Well, it turns out, as he matter-of-factly told me, there are such a thing as pasture pigs.  'Course I had to be me and follow him around for a bit asking how long it takes the farmer to apply sunscreen to pasture pigs (because we all know pigs are the only animals that sunburn); what type of sunscreen is used and/or if it smells like bacon in the field on very hot, sunny days.  Seeing as he's had to put up with me for almost 14 years now he's used to that sort of goofiness and takes it all in stride.  (Update:  Said son was looking over my shoulder as I typed this and we both decided, despite the earlier silliness, we actually wanted an answer to the whole sunburn thing.  Turns out dark-skinned pigs are generally pasture pigs, and they are, obviously, less prone to sunburn.  Don't say we never teach you anything here at Huh.  So This Is a Blog.)

So....why not take some time for your amid all the hustle and bustle and get crafty and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and enter the challenge? And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

And finally, to all my friends out there in blog land: Happy Holidays! I hope you enjoy 'em.

Okay, so ever since I started my blog (well, maybe not right from the get-go, it was probably a good six months or so before I realized you could change it from just "Leave your comment") I've tried to come up with something witty to type here.

*sitting with brow furrowed in concentration*...*staring at the ceiling while pursing lips*...*resting with head on hand while tapping foot*...

Nope, I still got nothing.
