Angels were not only present the night Jesus was born, but they came out en masse! Luke chapter 2:8-15 tells the story:

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,”Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

You probably noticed recently that cupcake papers are coming in vibrant colors and many patterns! Here’s a chance to make cute Paper Angels Christmas craft / ornaments out of them that are fun, inexpensive, and look absolutely darling on the Christmas tree!

Materials

– Cupcake papers in Christmas colors or red and green, two for each child
– White Styrofoam spheres from craft store
– White, red, or green yarn
– Sewing needle large enough to thread a piece of yarn

Instructions

1. Flatten two cupcake papers.

2. To make the body, fold one in half to create a half circle. Then fold in the sides so that they meet in the back, creating one-third of a circle. Glue the sides down where they meet in the back.

3. For the wings, fold one paper in half. Cut the half-circle into three triangles equal in size by starting at the center of the flat side and cutting outward. Disccard the middle triangle as shown:

The remaining two triangles will serve as the wings. Overlap them slightly in the back of the body, then glue them down.

5. Run the needle through the “skirt” of the body and up through the point that serves as the “neck”. Pull the yarn so that the tail lies inside the body. Use a dab of stick glue to hold it in place.

6. Run the thread through the Styrofoam ball that makes the head. Run it back through again, leaving a loop about four inches long. Cut the thread and glue the second tail beside the first one.
