Dec 2014: I loved this epistolary tale of the fictional nation of Nollop. The island lies off the coast of Georgia and reveres the famous fox/dog sentence we all learned in typing class. But as the island nation begins to lose access to certain letters of the alphabet, the leaders of the island grow increasingly power-hungry. This is a commentary on totalitarianism, rebellion, and courage all told within the brilliant context of letters. As the writers try to converse using substitute words that don't contain the forbidden letters of the alphabet, it becomes ever more ludicrous and hilarious, while horrible in the effects on the people. Great read! This may be my next book club pick as it is rife with discussion material.
