Here's a chair redo that inspired a whole room redo!
I finally finished my thrifty French chair....
from brown....
to Heirloom White
with some left over French Document fabric on the seat.
And now for the guest room redo - inspired by the chair!
The computer armoire is a wonderful black piece of furniture with lots of detail...however, it just jumps out when you enter the room.
Enter Daughter, who suggested just a 3 foot slide (easy for you to say!) to the right, and
voilà - a whole new look and a seating vignette! (There is a floor lamp in the left corner, but its brightness makes it almost invisible in the pic!)
Of course, she redoes the dormer areas .....
and even adds some wall decor inside the dormer.
A lamp by the door and a place to use my Ballard clock (special sale for $9.99 - regularly $250??!!)
Daughter made a little table out of stacked thrifty baskets.
So cute!
(The fake book had an accident, so the rubber band is holding the edge till the glue takes over!)
Some more thrifty baskets - is there such a thing as a "basket-aholic"?
Adding a little light inside the computer armoire....
The other dormer.....family photo haven, along with a mirror.
A thrifty find leopard bulleting board, which
Daughter mounted (tied) over the armoire door....
Removed some pillows from the bed...
All done!!
The room is much more inviting and lighter....
All from a gentle (?) shove of the armoire to the right 3 feet...
Go figure!
Thanks, Daughter!
Blessings and have a happy week!
Linda

Hi Linda! You did a wonderful job on your chair! The fabric for the seat is lovely! Your daughter has a good decorating sense, doesn't she? I love the small changes that make such a difference. Your room is gorgeous.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
You did a fabulous job on the chair, it looks fantastic... it looks great in the room. The makeover turned out really pretty.
Linda, your room is stunning. I would never have thought about the 3 ft. either, but it really does make a difference. Your chair redo is GORGEOUS, and the seating area is fabulous. I absolutely love the basket end table. Isn't it amazing how clever our daughters are. Fantastic job with everything. Thanks in advance for joining TTT Hugs, Marty
Linda, Your chair turned out great and so did the guest room. The document print really makes it a knock out! Isn't it funny how just moving a piece of furniture made room for the sitting area? Love it.
You mentioned the Heirloom White paint.. I seem to remember you mentioning it before. Is it a spray paint? I looked at older posts but can't seem to find it. I like the soft color.
Thanks,
Babs
The chair turned out great, Linda! I love Heirloom White and the document fabric is perfect for it. What a very inviting guest room. I love how your daughter did up the dormer alcoves, too.
Love all the changes!! Very smart daughter.
Have a God Filled Day

Hi Linda, I'm new here and I just love your new room redo. The vintage chair with the French Script fabric came out beautiful. What a great use for all of those baskets....it's perfect. I'm your newest follower!
Marianne :)
I love your new chair and all your baskets. My mom is like you. Whenever she goes shopping, she always looks at the baskets first, so we have them all over the house too. I really like how you have them displayed casually in a larger basket.
love the chair, love the fabric, room looks great!
Love your chair and you did a great job on your room. So inviting!

Can your daughter come over and fix my guest room? I really love the color scheme in there. The blacks, browns, creams and whites all look so pretty in there.
That chair is stunning! You've done a great job. As for that room, it would be hard not to spend all your time in there. It looks so inviting :)

Hi Linda, Your room looks so much more open with the little move of the armoire! Sometimes we just need a new pair of eyes to see the simplest things. Your chair is also fabulous and what a difference the paint makes! Love the little leopard touch too. As for the baskets, I think all the ones you don't have there are living in my house somewhere! :) Linda

Elegant! And WOW! It's all so pretty, and I love the baskets.
Replace that rubber band with a piece of twine or burlap ribbon and everyone will think that you bought them that way! I've seen stores charge a lot of money for that same look!
Your daughter's idea was right on. Sometimes it just takes a fresh perspective to help us over the decorating hump. All of the changes look great. And I LOVE the chair! Great job!!
the chair looks beautiful and fits in so well!
It looks very nice! Your daughter had some great ideas! Your newest follower...hope you can visit me sometime soon.

The whole room is so warm and inviting, its amazing what just alittle tweeking will do. Though our styles are so different, i think there's place for abit of french flair in any design scheme. I love the french document fabric and have been longing to use it someplace........Have a great day........Bonnie

Great suggestion by your daughter. Love the chair and the room.
Hi Linda, just found your entry At the Picket Fence. I have an entry close by...Denim Cake Stand. Your chair is fantastic. I have the same fabric and used it on the seats of my dining room chairs. It's a great sturdy fabric. Hope you will visit my blog. I am your newest follower.
