Saturday - it's CHALLENGE DAY!

Morning all

Saying "HI" to my newest follower, Kylie, you may already know her from Addicted to Stamps and More and Addicted to CAS challenge blogs and she maintains a personal blog too - welcome Kylie, hope you will stop back from time to time.

Kylie's also responsible for the new forum Happy Little Stampers (not JUST for stampers but for all crafters) and is about to launch the HLS blog - I reckon that makes her pretty busy, don't you?

Join them here
Anyway, most of you know by now that Saturday is usually a challenge day for me - you can see a list of challenges I like to enter visible in my side bar ...

My first challenge of the day is the new Stamplorations challenge  for August which, this month, is: "STAMPS AND DIE CUTS" ...

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 300 gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • 12½cm square piece of watercolour paper to which water spritz and brusho's (scarlet and black) and Perfect Pearls mica mist in sunshine yellow had been applied and dried
  • Close to my Heart "time" and Visible Image "Time Flies" stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Tim Holtz clock face die, cut using Kraft card and then "aged" with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo

I wasn't sure - too grungy? Anyway I then moved on to an ATC ...

Like this better

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippet of watercolour paper to which water had been spritzed followed by brusho paints in purple and scarlet and a light misting of Perfect Pearls in sunshine yellow - which just give a lovely gold shimmer (but tricky to photograph!).
  • PaperMania sentiment and Rubber Necker thistle stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink, which was then used to edge the ATC

The peeps at Simply Less Is More have launched their new challenge too .... they've gone with "FOLIAGE". It is also the turn of the often dreaded One Layer Card this week too - so glad I went back and checked as a card popped in to my head ... with a backing layer of mulberry paper - so that would have been a NOOOOOOOOO!!!

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 300gsm, scallop edged card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Snippet of card which I die cut an oval from, to act as a mask through which I applied Distress Inks (bundled sage, peacock feathers, mowed lawn) using a Tim Holtz mini blending tool with a foam pad
  • JOFY foliage image stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Using peacock feathers, mowed lawn and tea dye and a water brush I added a little colour to my image
  • Woodware sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Spray and Shine used to set the design for postal purposes!

And here is the inside of the card and the front/back of the envelope too

Have a fab Saturday

Super cards Kathy, I think they are all good, so I won't attempt to choose a favourite. I am going to finish off a jumper I've knitted today, then I aim to craft for a while after that, I've been a bit frustrated recently because of lack of time to 'play'

I couldn't tell you the number of times that I've made a card that was supposed to be one layer that was actually not... and I set the challenges!
These are all great cards Kathy!
Thanks so much
Chrissie

Beautiful cards Kathy, I'd have to pick the LIM one as my favourite but only because I love how your distress inking has turned out. Gorgeous colour and so effective.
Thanks so much for sharing and taking part.
