How To Install Fonts and Use Them in PicMonkey

PicMonkey is my very favorite place to edit photos.  PicMonkey has lots of options available for helping you make your pictures look their best.  You can even add captions to your pictures.  PicMonkey has always had a great selection of fonts, but now there are even more to choose from.  Now, any fonts you download are automatically available for you to use in PicMonkey

Pinterest is a great resource for finding free fonts.  Just search "fonts" or look around on my "Fonts" Pinterest board.  You're sure to find something you like and they're easy to download.  Here's how to do it in three easy steps.

1.  First you need to download the font.  Be sure you trust the source you are downloading from.  Once you've found a font you like on Pinterest, click through to the website.  Click on the font you want to download.  This screen will pop up.

There will be other buttons in the sidebar that look like download buttons, but DON'T click on them.  I've done that before and trust me, it's no fun!  You'll get a bunch of stuff in your toolbar you don't want.  Click the GRAY download button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.  Save the file.  It will save as a zip file.

2.  Next, extract the files.  Find the folder where the font is saved.  Select the file and click "Extract all files."  Another pop-up window will open.

3.  The last step is to install the font.  Select the font in the new pop-up window.  Right click and select install.  (Before I installed the font file, I right clicked to do a virus scan just to be safe.)

Now that your fonts are installed, they will automatically show up in PicMonkey!

The next time you open PicMonkey, your new fonts will show up in the toolbar and be ready for you to use!  Just select the "Tt" button on the toolbar and select "Yours."

Wasn't that easy?  I hope you'll have lots of fun using your favorite fonts in PicMonkey!

You can also design your own printables with PicMonkey!

  1. You know, I never knew you could do this in PicMonkey until the other day! I noticed the "Your Own" option in fonts and realized it had all my fonts from word pad! Knowing I could download more is a bonus! Thanks!

  17. Hi Bonnie! Thanks for this great tutorial about fonts and Pic Monkey. I was so happy when I went to the site one day and saw that they had added that feature. My husband doesn't like for me to download fonts 'cause he is nervous about viruses. Is there a site that you recommend for downloading fonts? I saw your post over at AKA Designs Weekend Re-treat link party.

    1. I know what you mean. The first time I downloaded a font, I got a virus too. Luckily it wasn't anything too serious and Mr. Pin Junkie was able to fix it. I have Norton installed on my computer so when I'm about to install a font file, I right click on the file to bring up a menu and select "scan for virus."

    1. PicMonkey is an online photo editing site. Since all you do is edit a picture, you don't need to use Wordpress or blogger in PicMonkey. Once you've edited a picture, save it to your computer, and then insert your edited photo in your Wordpress post just like you would any other picture. Hope this helps!
