Rising Sandy
You came before Halloween in 2012
Like a creature in the night
Hurricane winds attacked our shores
Rising waters, we couldn’t fight.
You rose up before us in 2012
Like a monster, you took a bite
Goodbye amusements at our shores
Your destruction and our plight
You wreaked havoc in 2012
Like a ghost, you took flight
Homes washed away at our shores
Flooding waters of great height
You took our power in 2012
Like a phantom, you took the light
Darkness fell upon our shores
No one knew about your might
You came before Halloween in 2012
Strong people, no time for your fright
They’ll rebuild all at our shores
Goodbye darkness, hello light.

Sounds to me as though you were there through all these terrible times. The flooding that occurred when I took this photo, although quite bad for Naperville, was nothing on the scale of these disasters!

Live in NJ but inland. We were without power for about 24 hours but no damage or injury. Many coastline towns had major losses. Eye opener as we don’t really get weather extremes in NJ. Social media was a lifeline and charging my cell in the car was interesting. Some towns set up charging stations for people in need.

Thanks for reading. I am glad I only had to experience the power failure part when she hit last year.
