It was the wrong meeting, the prayer strange:

god

save me from the things I cannot stand

for I am the best penguin

for ever and ever

amen.

They talked through the hour about the same thing: what’s cheese for? Men who had been running from cheese their whole lives, fatally drawn to it until they had found the halls. He was glad to get out of there.

He found himself in a park with three brightly-coloured doors near a tree. A girl sat astride a branch.

Which one do you want? she said. Cheddar, Danish blue or red Leicester?
