Home
After 10 years traveling through the infinite realms of Qal’Adur, he was homesick. Adam Cristofsen had flown upon dragons, wooed princesses, and voyaged in starships, but he missed familiar things.
His only chance to leave stood upon a grassy meadow. Three doorways; two led to more realms, and the third, home.
He opened one and a universe churned outside the portal. A familiar one. Home.
The elements of his life flashed by: his tyrannical boss, stale coffee, a cramped cubicle, TV dinners alone, and videos waiting at home.
He slammed the door. “What am I thinking?”
He leapt through another door without looking.

Awesome how you contrasted the wondrous things Adam had done in the magical realms, to the mundane things back home. Let’s see… deal with rush hour traffic to a cramped office and tyrannical boss — or fly dragons and woo princesses? What a choice! I loved this story.

Absence makes the heart forgetful of all the petty annoyances, at least. At least he got a preview before he had to go back and regret his decision for his whole life.

Thank you so much. It’s hard not to be influenced by the greatest travel guide ever. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never read it. It’s still on my “to do” list. Though, I’ve seen the movie and the BBC production of it. The robot is easily my favorite character.
