My Nat'l Dance Day card

This week's challenge theme at The Outlawz Coloring Challenges is "Dance" because tomorrow is National Dance Day. My Outlawz Coloring Challenge teammates, Carla, Penny, Karen, Vannessa, and I challenge you to use create a project for this challenge.

Our July sponsor at The Outlawz Coloring Challenges is Sweet Pea Stamps, who is offering our lucky winner three digis of his/her choice from the Sweet Pea Digi Stamp Store.  Play along with us for your chance to win!

Here's my card with one of the showgirls from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Show Stoppers set.

The showgirl was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink (Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts), colored with Copic markers, fussy-cut, and edged with a black marker. A touch of blush was added to her cheek with palette chalks.

The background was created with the Take the Stage die set (Die-namics). The silky-looking paper is Shantung specialty paper by FiberMark. I edged the curtains with blue marker to add a touch of blue to the jade greenish fabric-finish curtains. The backdrop was adhered to brown cardstock andDimensional foam adhesive was used between the backdrop and curtains. The little tie-backs were included in the set. Aren't they cute?

When I was done putting the stage together, the showgirl was adhered, the piece was matted onto black cardstock, and onto a card front cut from Blue Quills, a feather-textured specialty paper (FiberMark).

A scrap of the Shantung paper was die-cut with one of the banners from the Dimensional Banner die set (Die-namics). The sentiment was stamped onto the banner with Jet Black StazOn ink (Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts) and heat set.

Blue cardstock was die-cut with a ticket die (QuicKutz) and rub-ons (also by QuicKutz) were  used to add the sentiment. A white gel pen was used to add a bit of detail to it.

The ticket and the banner were added to the card front and the card front was adhered to a blue card.

Just Chillin'

This week's challenge at Outlawz Alcohol Markers Challenges is Anything Goes and/or Christmas.
Outlawz Alcohol Markers Challenges is now a coloring challenge! You can use alcohol markers, other markers, colored pencils, and any other coloring medium. The only requirement is that you color an open line image!

August's sponsor for the Outlawz Friday's Coloring Challenges is Bombshell Stamps. The winner of this month's challenge will win his or her choice of a digital set of stamps.

You should definitely enter this challenge and should also visit my Outlawz Coloring Challenge Teamies' blogs for inspiration! Carla, Dawn, and Penny are seriously talented!

Here's my card using one of the penguins from Kraftin' Kimmie's Just Chillin' set.

The penguin was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. When I was done, he took a ride through my Big Kick and was die-cut with a Nestabilities Square die by Spellbinders. The image panel stayed in the die and Old Paper Distress ink was sponged over the die using the fabulous Mini Ink Blending Tool. I now have all of the Mini Distress inks (yahoo!) and discovered something really useful! The Replacement Mini Ink Blending Foams fit inside the back of the cute little ink pads, so my plan is to have a foam for each color!  Stuff like that makes my Virgo-self really happy. It's the "ducks in a row" thing applied to inkpads.

I digressed, but at least my digression shared useful info! Now back to my card... I popped the image panel out of the die and used my Stardust Clear Glitter pen to add some sparkle to the ice under the penguin. When the ink was dry, I used the Clear Gelly Glaze pen to the ice, the penguin's beak, and his eyes. I built up several layers of Clear Gelly Glaze to add glassy dimension and shine. My Quickie Glue pen was used to add glue to adhere White Fun Flock to the pom-poms on the penguin's hat and scarf. In looking at the card, I should have added the Fun Flock to the hat's brim too. Oh well.

Here's a close-up so you can see the glassy shine and dimension of the ice and the fuzziness of the flock, which is whiter irl.

The patterned papers are really old, from the Jovial 6x6 pad by Basic Grey. I followed Papertake Weekly's Sketch #88. The flag is from the Fishtail Stax by Die-Namics. The sentiment is by Rubber Soul. It was die-cut using a die by Just-Rite, kept in the die, and sponged with Old Paper Distress ink.

Here's the sketch!

Cool Birds!

It's Friday, which means it's time for another new challenge at the Outlawz Alcohol Marker Group! This week we're having an "Anything Goes with the option of creating a card for Christmas and/or any winter holiday!

This challenge is sponsored by Ditzie Digi Design, who will be awarding fabulous prizes at the end of the month!

You should go visit my teammates' blogs to check out what they created for this challenge. You can find links to Carla, Dawn, and Penny's blogs down there on the right side.  You should also play along with the challenge and share your project for a chance to win a prize from Ditzie Digi Design. They will be awarding three digis for first prize, two digis for second prize, and one digi for first!

Anyway, here's my card, featuring the bird trio from the You're So Tweet set by Kraftin' Kimmie! I took this photo with my iPhone*.

The bird trio from the You're So Tweet set by Kraftin' Kimmie was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah cardstock and colored with Copic markers. Clear Gelly Glaze pen was added to their beaks and birdy feet. Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen was added to the snowy part of the branch and is very glittery and icy looking irl. The cloudy sky was added with my Copic markers in my usual way.

Very old two-sided die-cut patterned paper was layered and an aperture was die-cut for the stamped image. All edges were sponged with Golden Glitz Delicata ink. The golden shimmer of this ink is remarkably wondrous. If you haven't tried it, you should. And now there's a silver version that has the same amazing shimmer.

The sentiment was stamped onto one of the sheets from that pad, die-cut, and edged with the deliciously sparkly Golden Glitz Delicata ink.

*BTW, I took the photo with my iPhone and had an adventure. I took a video of the card, my project, my lamps, my desk, then my perplexed face. The photo is almost rubbish, so if the weather is good, I'll take a better one tomorrow with my real camera. By the way, the learning curve on my new toy makes me feel like a total moronicdweebtwit. Apparently you can't teach this old dog new tricks.

Ciao! It's a Color Challenge!

Here's the palette for this week's color challenge at the Outlawz Alcohol Marker Group.

Our challenges this month are sponsored by Ditzie Digi Design, who will be awarding fabulous prizes at the end of the month!

You should go visit my teammates' blogs to check out what they created for this challenge. You can find links to Carla, Dawn, and Penny's blogs down there on the right side.  You should also play along with the challenge and share your project for a chance to win a prize from Ditzie Digi Design.  Here's my project, using the Vespa rider from Kraftin' Kimmie's Let the Good Times Roll set

I had to have the  Let the Good Times Roll set because it had the Vespa rider. I've always found something funny about these scooters and that was exacerbated after seeing Eddie Izzard's Dressed to Kill special, where he did a hilarious bit about Italy. I got out this set and used that image because we're going to see Eddie Izzard's Force Majeure show this Saturday. I'm stoked.

Anyway, the Vespa rider was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. The image panel was die-cut using a Circles Nestabilities die. The cardstock was cut using my trusty old CM Cutting System. The patterned paper is from the Maritime 6x6 pad by 7 Gypsies. The corner die-cut is SCACD's Contempo Compass Statement Corner. Ancient Doodlebug rub-ons were used to add the "Ciao" sentiment to the Talk Bubbles die-cut by Simon Says Stamp.

Keep Calm and...

It's Friday, which means that it's time for me to post my card for the Outlawz Alcohol Marker Group! Our sponsor this month is Make It Crafty, so be sure to join April's challenges for a chance to win a prize from them. Even better, they've offered up an extra prize for an additional draw for those who use a MIC image.  Such a great prize so make sure you get those alcohol markers out and get colouring!

This week's challenge at the Outlawz Alcohol Marker Group is "Keep Calm". Now I have a bunch of images that I could have used that would have reinforced the theme, but I went with something a bit different.

Here it is!

The Wine Bottle and Glass stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie's Wine Me, Dine Me set was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I debated adding my personal wine label, Grapes of Kath, but resisted temptation as the image was already colored to my liking.

Believe it or not, I had "Keep Calm and Carry On " Washi tape, so that set my color palette. I found a wonderful gradient grey and white patterned paper in the Elegant 6x6 pad by Authentique that worked really well with the Washi tape and the colored image panel.

"Keep Calm", the matted image panel, and "and" were adhered the patterned paper. I grabbed a very, very, very old pack of alphabet rub-ons by Making Memories (company defunct) and used that for the "Drink Wine" part of the sentiment. "Good" was from the Christmas Remnants rub-ons by Idea-ology.

I matted the layers, added ribbon, tied on a grapes charm, and called it done!

Book Lover!

It had been ages since I played along with a challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie, plus I came across a large scrap of book patterned paper from the Oxford collection by Basic Grey. So Priscilla came out to play!

Here's the card.

Priscilla was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto X-Press It Blending card, then colored with Copic markers. When I was done, I added some blush using pastel pencils.

The image panel was die-cut using a Nestabilities die, kept in the die, and Old Paper Distress ink was sponged over the die onto the image. It was popped out of the die, matted onto black cardstock, then adhered to the book patterned paper. Some Washi tape was used to finish the card. I haven't figured out who will get the card for what occasion, so it's sentiment-less at the moment.

Thanks for visiting!

SS&S, DD = Same Set & Sketch, Different Day!

I had the Kraftin' Kimmie's newish Just Chillin' set, out. I had my winter paper stash out (including papers that I was thinking about using for the last card, then rejected), and I still had the sketch on my table, so I decided to make another card using the same stamp set and the same sketch.

I should mention that I rarely leave things out after I project. I usually put things away so I can start with a clean space on my table. So obviously this card was meant to be!

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I did with it!

I should mention that clearly I can not follow a sketch. Oh well. :D

The penguin was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah cardstock and onto a sheet of patterned paper from the old and retired Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses 6x6 pad. The penguin on the Neenah cardstock was colored with Copic markers. The panel took a ride through my Big Kick and stayed in the die while I lightly traced the interior of the it. I popped out the panel and added a background scene using Copic markers.

The penguin's hat and scarf, stamped onto the patterned paper, were fussy cut, lightly shaded, and adhered to their counterparts on the stamp scene.  Clear Gelly Glaze pen was used on the penguin's beak and white flock was added to the hat's brim? and pom-pom. The final touch was to add some glitter with Hologram Glitter Liner by Viva DĂ©cor.

This time I decided to make the card a bit smaller than the last one, so I had to do all that pesky math again. I added the sentiment to the fishtail die cuts using Doodlebug Rub-ons. I wish I could still find those as they're the perfect size for sentiments on cards! The layered papers were edged with Black Soot Distress ink. I repeated the coat the Making Memories button with patterned paper thing again, but edged it with Black Soot Distress ink. I had some sparkly red floss which I used to thread the button.

Just Chillin' with some penguins

If you know me, you know that I love cats and birds. I especially love penguins and owls. My stamp collection reflects this love. So when I saw Kraftin' Kimmie's newish Just Chillin' set, I knew that I had to have it.

After a fairly frenetic few weeks, I finally had time to get the set inky and decided to use the current sketch, which is the challenge over at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge Blog.

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I did with it!
The penguin pair were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. The panel took a ride through my Big Kick and stayed in the die while I lightly traced the interior of the it. I popped out the panel and added a background using Copic markers. Then I added some glittery lines to the ice using a Wink of Stella Glitter pen. Clear Gelly Glaze pen was used on the penguins' beaks. The final touch was to add some glitter with Hologram Glitter Liner by Viva DĂ©cor. Sadly, the noontime sun washed the glitter right out of the photo. Bother!

The patterned paper is all from last year's  Winter Wishes 6x6 pad by Echo Park. The button is an Making Memories Chipboard button, which was updated with patterned paper. The Baker's Twine was originally purple and white, but I used a Copic marker to make it all matchy matchy because I'm cool like that.

Thanks for visiting today.

Happy Fall Fun!

We had a lovely stretch of cooler weather over the weekend, but it's been hot, Hot, HOT! the last few days and very, very humid too! Mother Nature is a tease. However, I know that fall is coming because we're beginning to get some apples with our CSA farm share! I hope we only get one pumpkin though because I detest pumpkins as a food group. IMHO they're only good for two things, taking children to pick a pumpkin and carving it into a Jack O'Lantern. I guess I could always put an extras out for our grey squirrels to eat! (We don't get red squirrels here, though we've had an occasional black one!).

Kraftin' Kimmie's  Pick of the Patch was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah cardstock and colored with Copic markers, which I'll list below. The colors were chosen to match the patterned papers from my hoarded Mellow 6x6 pad by Basic Grey.

The sentiment was created using equally hoarded Doodlebug Rub-Ons, which I love because they're small and in a fun font. Sadly, they're almost gone. Boo-hoo. The leaves were punched from the more solid papers from the pad, then tinted with Copic markers.

I based my card on this great sketch from the folks at Sketch N Stash.

Here's my take on the challenge!

Bella was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah cardstock and colored with Copic markers which I'll list below. She took a ride through my Big Kick to be die-cut, stayed in the die, while Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink was sponged lightly around the edges. She was then released and put aside.

The patterned papers are from the old, but beloved, Oh Baby Boy collection by Basic Grey. They were layered and Black Soot Distress ink was sponged on the edges.

Maybe it's her skull barrette or maybe it's her familiars, but I always thought that Bella was the tiniest bit "off" in a slightly wicked way, so I embellished accordingly. Glittery skull tape was added over the yellow checkerboard paper. A Tattered Florals Alterations die was used to die cut the flower from the patterned solidish paper. They were molded a bit and a skull cameo was added to the center. The flower was layered atop some webby, but sparkly Prima trim. Memory Box' Scary Spiders (on sale now!) were die-cut from black cardstock as was a Poppy Stamps' Walking Cat.

Here's my card!

I decided to mix things up and used the pumpkin and gravestone from the Beyond the Grave set with the cutie cat girl from Hey Ghoulfriend!

I first stamped all images onto Eclipse tape and fussy cut them to be used as masks. Using my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig, I stamped the cat girl, masked her, stamped the gravestone, masked it, and then stamped the pumpkin. I kept the masks on, taped a horizon line using repositionable Scotch Tape, then airbrushed the sky using the Copic Airbrush system. When I was done, I used a toothpick to load a toothbrush with Opaque White, then flicked the brush to create a sprinkling of stars. The sky was covered with Post-It Notes and I airbrushed the grass.

All masks were  lifted and I colored the scene with Copic markers. I used Memory Box' Debutante Frame to die cut orange patterned paper from the Enchanted 6x6 pad by Authentique. The Creepy Web Frame was die cut from Black cardstock. I layered the frame over the stamped scene, then layered the Creepy Web Frame over that. A Memory Box Dangling Spider was die cut from black cardstock, his legs were gently bent, and his body popped up a bit.  He was positioned to hold the sentiment in his feet (claws, mandibles, whatever they're called)!

Here's my card for today!

The scene was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. When I was done coloring the main image, I die cut it using a Nestabilities Labels 11 Grand die, then lightly outlined inside of the die using a C00 marker. I added some grass below the little boy and the leaf pile, then made a cloudy sky using the negative left from the two smaller Memory Box Cloud dies as well as cloud punch. I lightly traced them, then added some puffiness to the clouds with C0 and C00 markers. When that was done, I just added a nice blue sky using a custom blended "less than B21" marker. Clear Gel Glaze pen was added to the dog's nose, his eyes, the little boy's eyes, the rake handle, and the leaves.

I seem to be on a use older patterned paper kick lately. The striped paper (punched with a Fiskar's Border Punch) is from Basic Grey's Mellow collection and the kid scene and the trees are from the Mellow 6x6 pad. They were matted with paper from Basic Grey's Fusion collection, which was edged with Fired Brick Distress Ink.The base layer is from Graphic 45's French Country 8x8 pad.

I braided yellow, blue, and green hemp twine from American Crafts and used it to separate some layers and add some visual interest.

Kraftin' Kimmie Sneak Peeks -- Day Three!

I don't know about you, but I sure have been having fun playing along with the talented ladies of Kraftin' Kimmie's DT. The weather has reflected the fall theme of August's Kraftin' Kimmie release with some cooler temperatures, which is a welcome relief!

Happy hoppin'!
I used a super-cute image from the Happy Haunting set to create this card!

The image was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. A Nestabilities die was used to cut out the image.

The patterned papers are from Graphic 45's Halloween in Wonderland Collection and from Basic Grey's Fusion collection. I had planned on using a fabulous plaid piece of patterned paper from a small pad, but alas, I put the pad Somewhere Safe, aka the Craftroom Black Hole. Does your crafty space have one of those? After looking for an hour (and finding some useful stuff), I gave up and went with the Fusion paper. It does work, sort of. :D

Bamboo Leaves Memento ink was used to stamp the sentiment, which was die-cut using a Fancy Labels tag. I left the white cardstock in the die and used a Y000 Copic marker over the sentiment and the white space, leaving a white border. This was mounted on the matching green cardstock die cut. Some very old ancient fabric leaves from my stash were used to finish the card!

Here's today's card which features a magical new stamp from the new You're Fang-tastic stamp set by Cheryl Alger!

The seriously cute wizard was stamped with Onyx Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. The image panel was die-cut with a Nestabilities die and kept in the die so I could add a faint outline and a horizon line. A dotty background was added and the edges of the die cut were colored with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen, which was also added to the Star Flourish yellow die cuts and the sentiment panel. The patterned papers are all from scraps of old Eerie patterned paper by Basic Grey.

The card was perched on my daughter's car to be photographed and the reflection actually shows all the glitter much better.

Here's my card featuring two of the images from the Beyond the Grave set by Nicole Aspinall!

The Treat Bag image and two Jack O' Lanterns were stamped onto Judikins Eclipse Tape and fussy cut. The Treat Bag was stamped again onto Neenah cardstock, masked, then the Jack O'Lanterns were stamped so they slightly overlapped the bag and were masked too. The background was sponged over the masked images using Scattered Straw and Wild Honey Distress inks.  Post-It notes were used to mask the "wall" and Black Soot Distress ink was sponged over a Cityscape stencil by The Crafter's Workshop to mimic the checkerboard pattern in the patterned papers.

The Jack O'Lanterns and the Treat Bag were colored using Copic markers and the candies were all covered with clear Gelly Glaze pen to add dimension and shine to them. Mats were cut from Bo-Bunny Double Dot 6x6 pads to match the Copic colors I used. The Jack O'Lantern paper and checkerboard papers are from Graphic 45's Happy Haunting 8x8 pad.

I used a Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Border punch to add some interest (and a purple element) to the mat. Fish-tale Die-Namics were also used to to anchor the image and sentiment panels.

Being me, I had a bit of a different approach in that I did not make anything beach related. So, without further ado, here it is!

My card features the girl bathing the cat stamp from the Feathers and Fur set. The look on that cat's face cracks me up. One of our cats is like that about water. Duchess, my familiar and my avatar  online, loves water. As a kitten, she'd jump into the kitchen sink whenever I ran water, so she had many baths. The only problem is that she HATED the blow dryer. Having a soaking wet, long-haired cat tearing through your house at super-sonic speeds did not thrill me. Nor did having scratches and cuts from fingertips to elbow, so the baths stopped. However,  Duchess still likes to sit in the sink, play with water trickling from the faucet, and recently learned how to turn off the faucet! Fortunately, she has not figured out how to turn it on.

But I digress. So shocking. The little scene was colored with Copic markers, which I'll list below. I added clear Wink of Stella glitter pen accents to all the bubbles and to the Tiny Bubbles die cut. When the glitter ink was dry, I added clear Gelly Glaze pen to add some shine. I also added the Glaze pen to the bar of soap, the cat's pink nose, her eyes, and the girl's eyes. That sounds kind of painful, but I assure you that I was gentle.

The patterned paper is all from Stella Rose: Hazel 6x6 pad by My Mind's Eye. Those pads are old, but beloved, and are still available at AC Moore, which pleases me.

I designed the card based on this sketch from the Crafting Musketeers.

Instead of the strip along the left, I used a Fishtale Flags Die-namics die. I would have sworn that I had pawprint brads, but they must be "someplace safe". So I used some hoarded Rain Drops by Cloud 9. I downloaded a Slippery When Wet road sign from the 'net, converted it to black and white, lightened it, and reduced it using Photo Elements. I cut it out and added it to the card to serve as a sentiment. Now if I had a brain and hadn't procrastinated, I would have added Glossy Accents to the negative space in the Tiny Bubbles die cut. Oh well. Next time!

Thanks for visiting today!

Metals, Skull, and Flowers! Oh my!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Challenge blog is hosting a Guns N' Roses challenge this week, where you're supposed to use metal and flowers together. That's so my thang, that I had to play along with them.

Here's my card!

That's Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Priscilla, who is a bookworm. She likes all literature, but also likes a bit of Gothic and Horror every now and then. In keeping with her taste in books, I decided to make her hair have periwinkle highlights to match her hair bows and shirt.

Anyway, she was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers, which I'll list below. There's a bit of clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen on her shoes because why the heck not?

I based my design on this sketch from The Cupboard Trilogy Challenges.

I had cut the cardstock into a rectangle as above, but it was kind of plain, so I diecut periwinkle vellum using one of the dies from Spellbinders' Decorative Labels 8. It made me much happier. The patterned papers are from BoBunny's Isabella 6x6 pad. All edges were sponged with Black Soot Distress ink to eradicate those nasty white edges that I loathe.

Lace was stapled under the dotted patterned paper using Tonic's Tiny Attacher. I love that thing! That was my first touch of metal.

The white flowers were old, ancient Making Memories flowers which were colored with my B60 marker. I added a skull brad (Recollections) to the center, which became my second bit o' metal. The other flowers are equally old Prima flowers. The blue ones were once white and were colored with my B63 marker. I found cool pewtery (new word) metal roses on clearance at Michael's yesterday and added those to the mix. I added some silver pearls (Recollections) to add some shiny elements to appeal to my inner magpie.

I diecut silver Inksssentials Metal Foil Tape sheets using the Delicate Chain die by Memory Box and adhered it to the strip of patterned paper that hold the sentiment die cuts. The sentiment is a foil sticker from Stampendous. I added some tiny black Prima flowers to either side of the sentiment piece and added silver pearls to finish the card.

Thanks for visiting today!

Stagefright: v3.0 plus Monday Mojo #300!!!

Here's my last entry for the Kraftin' Kimmie DT Tryouts, once again creating a card with an outside and an inside!

This time I used a sketch from Mojo Monday, who is celebrating their 300th post! Woot!!!

Here's the sketch:

Here's my take on the sketch!

And here are the card's innards!

That cutie hula dancer is Leilani by Kraftin' Kimmie. She was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Neenah cardstock and colored with Copic markers which I'll list below. When she was all colored, she took a ride in my Big Kick to be die cut by a rectangle Nestabilities die. She was kept in the die while I used Post-It notes to block off first the beach and then the sky. The Post-It notes were lifted and I colored the sand, sea, and sky using Copic markers. Inkssentials White Gel pen was used to add sea foam and white caps. When I was happy with my little scene, I put it aside to construct the card.

I must say using sketches makes things much easier. The only issue I have with them is that I have to do math. I guess my third grade teacher was right after all. You really DO need to know how to add, subtract, and divide fractions.

But I digress, which I'm sure shocked you.

The hibiscus flower and green banner paper are from the Down by the Shore 6x6 pad by Fancy Pants. The yellow floral paper that I used for the circle is from My Mind's Eye's Remarkable: Collectable 6x6 pad. The patterned paper on the front and innards is from Basic Grey's Basics: Manila 6x6 pad.

"Aloha" and "Mahalo" sentiments are included with  Leilani.

The hibiscus is from Bombshell Stamps' Hula Girl set. It was colored with Copic markers, fussy cut, and adhered to adorn the sentiment banner.

All edges of the patterned papers were sponged with Old Paper Distress ink, which was also used to sponge over a very old stencil by Club Scrap.

True confession: I made a few mistakes, including an element that I meant to be right-side up, but perfection is overrated or so I keep telling myself. I also meant to add black photo corners to the stamped image, but I forgot and didn't realize it til everything was all securely adhered.

Copic markers used:
Skin: E11, E13, E15
Hair: B41, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8
Top: R24, R46, R59
Skirt: YG01, YG03, YG05, YG13, YG21
Leaves: Same as the skirt, but added YG63
Flower: Same as the top, but added YR12
Sand: E40, E41, E42, E43
Sea: BG11, BG13,BG23, BG45, BG57
Sky: B21, C00, C0

Stagefright -- Part Deux!

Greetings! Here's my second entry for the Guest DT challenge over at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! Since the challenge is to create a card with a decorated inside, I decided to try my hand at creating a pop-up card. I recently got the Sizzix Pop 'N Cuts die, saw the construction and had a "I can do that myself" moment.

So here it is!

I used Lab Geek by Kraftin' Kimmie (stamp is not in stock, but many of the ones that are in stock are on sale!). I love this stamp because whereas I'm NOT a chemist, I've been married to one for almost 33 years! I was a child bride of 5!  So I figured the stamp would be very useful. In fact, I've already used it a bunch. Here's a link to another card using Lab Geek.

But I digress. Quel shoque! The little scene was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers, which I'll list below. The scene was die cut with Nestabilities Labels 11. The cardstock was left in the die and I sponged Victorian Velvet and Old Paper Distress Inks around it, then liberated it from its metal prison. If you look carefully, you'll see that I messed up. So what? Perfection is overrated.

I added Glossy Accents to her goggles and the flasks and left it overnight to cure.

The patterned papers are all from MME's So Sophie: Graceful 6x6 pad. All edges were sponged with Victorian Velvet and Old Paper Distress Inks.

Here's the inside:

I diecut two flasks using Memory Box's Bottles die (which appears to be sold out. Too bad. I got mine! hahahahaha). I colored them with Copic markers, (I should have made them more transparent by adding a matching green. Oh well!) I added some Clear Gelly Stardust Glitter pen accents, then coated them with a layer of Clear Gelly Glaze pen. I die cut a slightly smaller label using the Nestabilities Labels 11 set, stamped the sentiment, added the flasks, and then added some more glitter pen accents.

I used the same papers and design on the inside of the card, but added the pop-up mechanism to the Ledger paper sheet, then adhered the Nestabilities piece over it.

I'm no engineer (nor do I play one on TV), but I'm inordinately proud of myself for this card, since fancy folds are usually beyond me. :D

OK. Thanks for visiting today!

Copic Markers used:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, R20, BV00
Hair: C4, C6, C7
Lab Coat: W00, E81
Goggles: BG90, 93
Blouse: RV93, RV95
Bottles: Way too many to list.

I've got "stagefright" because I'm a finalist!

I can't believe it, but I'm one of the ten finalists in the Kraftin Kimmie Guest Designer contest! I'm a lot excited and very nervous too.

The next step was to create a card with both the outside and inside decorated, which is not something I do often.

Here's what I created!

Here's the inside:

I cheated and used a sketch from Paper Take Weekly:

My card stars the  Kraftin' Kimmie's wonderful Cheshire Cat, who always makes me smile. I colored him in non-Disney colors using Copic markers in the BG and C families, which is coming up as slightly purple on the photo. His eyes have a touch of Spica Black Glitter pen to give them a mischievous sparkle. His nose has some Clear Gelly Glaze pen for a bit of dimension and shine. I sketched in the branch using a Copic Multiliner, then colored the branch with Copics.

The Cheshire Cat was stamped again onto Eclipse tape, fussy cut, then adhered over the image to protect it while I airbrushed a greenish/bluish hazy background.

The patterned papers are from several My Mind's Eye 6x6 pads from the Stella & Rose: Gertie and Hazel pads, some from the Fine & Dandy: Boy pad, and a sheet from an 8x8 Olde Curiosity Shoppe pad by Graphic 45. These are old and likely out of stock, but you can always find great papers HERE at a nice price!

I die cut white cardstock using SCACD's fabulous Breezy Branches Statement Corner die, then colored the die cut with Copic markers and popped it onto the card. I finished the outside of the card with Mint Green Kaisercraft rhinestones.

I decided to get all digital and scanned the stamped Cheshire cat, then erased everything but his smile, using PhotoElements, and printed it out onto white cardstock. Then I assembled the inside of the card using the same sketch and similar patterned papers from the pads mentioned above.

Thanks for visiting today and wish me luck! I think I'll need it!
