Melting Moments

I L*O*V*E these cookies! Just as the name suggests, they melt in your mouth and are oh so buttery good! I love the way they look; both frosted and piped. They’re the perfect petite treat for Valentine’s Day.

Another reason why I love these cookies is because of their name. Seriously, can you find a cuter name for a cookie? One of my recent melting moments is when my daughter said “ma-ma” for the first time! So let me ask you, what’s one of your melting moments? J Leave a comment below!

My daughter, Mia. She makes my heart melt everyday.

Melting Moments – The Perfect Valentine Cookie

Ingredients:

1 C butter, softened
1/3 C powdered sugar
1 2/3 C flour
**1/8 t. salt ONLY if you used unsalted butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F and grease baking sheets.

Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add in the flour and combine until well blended.

**If you’re going to pipe the dough, do not chill the dough!!** Instead place the dough in a pastry bag fitted with a star tip (I used a Wilton 1M tip). Pipe the dough onto your baking sheet into the desired shape.

-OR-

For the traditional melting moment: chill the dough for 30 minutes.

Form the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on baking sheets. Press the balls down with a floured fork.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cookies start to brown along the edges.

Frosting:

Ingredients:

2 T butter
1 C powdered sugar
½ t vanilla extract
¼ t almond extract (optional)
Cream or milk
food coloring, if desired

Directions:

Melt butter in saucepan. Remove from heat; stir in sugar and extracts.
Add cream or milk to thin the frosting to your desired consistency. Tint with food coloring, if desired.

ok, I made these per directions and piped them on to the baking sheet. Then put the directly in a preheated oven... They turned into flat puddles on the pan. I'm guessing maybe you used self-rising flour. I used regular flour. or, should I try chilling the dough??? well, they still tasted yummy!

@Brown's Blessings: I am so sorry they didn't turn out! =( I did not use self-rising flour I just used regular old flour. I'm not sure where it went wrong, but if it happens to you again next time add more flour and/or powdered sugar to the mix. The batter should be pretty thick. I hope this helps, and sorry again they didn't turn out!

Mine didn't turn out either. I'd been excited about making them all week but they turned out flat and crumbly. Is there something missing on the recipe above!?!?

Anonymous: There is nothing missing from the recipe above. I've made these a few times as per the recipe instructions about and have had great results every time. The only thing I can think of is maybe your butter was too soft?
Sorry they didn't turn out. =(
