Thanks to Rochelle Wisoff -Fields at Addicted to Purple for hosting another week of the Addicting Friday Fictioneer. It is a where a bunch of us ink junkies use our talents to create a 100 word story or poem using a photo prompt. Below is the photo and this week I wrote a poem. Come try it out just click on this Friday Fictioneer link. Or you can use the “Links” at the bottom of my story.
Majestic Tree ~ 100words
Majestic and beautiful she stands,
she aged, but
survived winter’s abuse.
with twisted limbs
she points to the sun, sustenance.
Majestic and beautiful she stands.
bending with the fierce winds
and swaying in gentle breezes.
Drunk from the ambrosia of spring rains
she labors with birth.
Majestic and beautiful she stands,
in summer greens, glistening with dew.
A canopy of cool air,
where young lovers met and branded her
with hearts of devotion.
Majestic and beautiful she stands
autumn kisses transforms her lush green
to shades of amber, orange and brown.
Her many tomorrows are
beyond the breath of man.
I love trees, Kim. We grow them by the thousands here in our farm. But your poem is truly lovely and majestic! Many hugs and blessings! 🙂
Wow! You grow trees by the 1000’s that must be hard but gratifying work. Do you sell them or do you have and orchard?
Now, I have to say something about a tree. Well done…:)
🙂
A great poem. You captured the essence of the tree so well.
Thank you Joe.
Really enjoyed this and the images you painted. ‘Drunk from the ambrosia of spring rains’ sprang out at me – great line.
Thank you much.
Very nice homage.
Thank you.
A lush, gorgeous poem. Your words bring each season to beautiful light: “ambrosia of spring rain” and “autumn kisses.” I really enjoyed this, like a love letter to a tree.
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it.

Thanks.
Spectacular. I love how this took us through the seasons. It felt like I was experiencing the life of a tree. Well done, Kim!

Lovely…what the tree has witnessed and long continue to witness.
And the secrets it keeps. Didn’t get that in the poem. After thought wish I did. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Really brilliant. The last two lines were especially good. You should submit this to a magazine or something!
Thank you for this lovely compliment. I’m happy like it.
“Her many tomorrows are
beyond the breath of man.”

That’s a great tribute. It is pretty awe-inspiring to think of a living creature so much more long-lived than us.

I love this poem.. Labor of spring, the shade for lovers and the autumn colors 🙂
Thanks. I’m glad you did.
Your poem has a nice pace to it and I liked the transitions from one concept to the next. Particularly liked the last line, that the tree will outlive man.
Thank you very much. I think you are the only one who reference that line, it’s my favorite.
It’s a great line, ties it all together really nicely.
This is so beautiful. I love it. Your words are wonderful, they flow so very well! And express your love of trees quite clearly. Excellent. 🙂
Thank you very much Penny. I’m blushing. 🙂
Hi Kim – My goodness..!! What a stunning ode to an ugly, gnarled tree. In 100 words,. you made it beautiful. And for being new to WordPress..I am mighty impressed. Well done, lovely lady. I hope mine will become as pretty as time goes by.
Thank you Lora. I’m sure yours will be great. I look forward to reading. Welcome to WP and the Friday Fictioneer. 🙂
Your words are as breathtakingly beautiful as the photo, my friend.
Thank you. Why don’t you try your talent at writing one of these 100 word fictions? I think you will do good.
My friend, you are so kind to me. I think if the world had more kindness and compassion more of us could do and be what we really want to do and be…even if it’s a clown in a circus. ah here I go rambling in melancholy. Thank you for having faith in my writing…it means a lot.
You can. 🙂
Nicely done, Kim. And you made it with 100 words, too. That’s much harder to do with poetry.
“Lover’s” should just be “lovers”.
janet
Thanks. Yes it is hard to fit in 100 words with poetry. I kept changing the wording. Thanks for pointing out the ‘Lovers’ over sight. 🙂
Reblogged this on idealisticrebel and commented:
Trees, tree, and trees. I love them and here are some good words about them.
