Many times the photo featured for the prompt comes from one of the writers involved in our ever enlarging circle. This week, however, our own Mistress Rochelle is the visual prompt supplier. What do you see in this photo?

This week I chose to continue my story started two weeks ago about a woman who escaped an abusive relationship by ridding the world of her husband in the prompt named Freedom Flower. Last week I added the second installment concerning the detective assigned to the case in Equine Wisdom. In this week’s edition you find out more about the history of the abuse the wife endured.

Clarice lit two oil lamps on the kitchen table. It was now nine months without the threat of Jackson using his fists to express his displeasure with her. What did the detective know?

“Mrs. Carr, I just have a few questions,” Detective Sophie Marcus said.

“Okay.”

“On the toxicology report we found that Mr. Carr’s blood was perilously thin. Was he being treated for blood clots?”

“Blood clots?” Clarice scrambled to think of an answer. “Yes, he had problems with those.”

The look on the detective’s face troubled Clarice.

“Mrs. Carr you might want to rethink what you just said,” Marcus said as she slapped another paper on the table.
