Get Stains Out Anywhere

Clothing Stain

Two Clothing Stain Facts

You will spill on yourself when you wear white.

You will spill at the most inconvenient time.

Fact: I did both on my way to work. Maybe one day I’ll learn to not spill and stain my clothes, maybe.  By the time I got to work the stain was nice and crusty and dry. I was able to sneak in without anyone noticing my new hot chocolate stain. Normally I would change and treat the stain or pull out a Tide-to-Go, but I was in the middle of the freeway and forgot the miracle pen. Drat. Since I am a seasoned clothing stain veteran (just go with it) I know what to do in these emergency situations.

How to Get Stains Out

I headed straight to the bathroom on this one. The easiest way to get rid of or reduce any fresh clothing stain is to soak up the excess stain then saturate with cold water, hot water will set stains. After saturating the spot or stain, gently dab with a wet paper towel. The stain should slowly transfer to the paper towel. Remove the remainder of the stain by applying a small amount of hand soap. Gently dab the stain until gone, or until an acceptable level of fade. Rinse the soap out by dabbing with another wet paper towel.

Spot or Stain Removal

Tada! The stain is 99.8% gone, you can’t tell where the stain is unless you really look for it. This method has saved me more times than I can count. I use it every time I need to get a stain out while I’m out in public and even sometimes at home. This even works pretty well with red pasta stains; I tried it out at Olive Garden one time. :) The shirt I am wearing is made of cotton and therefore able to handle a bit of water and soap. Always read your clothing labels so you know what they can handle.

Happy Cleaning!

*Update 5/29/13

See this? Yup, I just flung some onto my shirt while eating a snack. I once again used this easy stain removing technique to get it out.

Can you see the spot? I promise it was bright reddish-purple before. It took me 5 minutes to remove this embarrassing stain.

  4. Ha-I feel your pain. I had to learn this too because I am always spilling stuff on myself. I am also really bad about splattering grease while cooking-I was getting ready to toss a couple of shirts with grease spots when my friend told me to put dawn dish soap on the grease spots and re-wash them. Amazing! It works every time to get them out. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  5. Sprinkle baby powder on a grease spill/ stain, let sit to absorb the grease, then follow up with mixture of Dawn dish washing liquid.

  6. What will get strawberries out of a table linen ??? My daughter had a strawberry stain on her table linen, soon as she saw it, she washed it in cold water, then washed in the machine a couple of times using different laundry detergent, also tried Shaklee cleaner and nothing will remove it…..any help from you would be appreciated…thanks

    • Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you but you can get strawberry stains out by treating the stain with laundry detergent directly. Work the laundry detergent in and rinse then launder as usual. I have also seen that suggestions stating that boiling water should get it out. Keep in mind that it might be harder to remove the stain if the table cloth has already been through the dryer as the dryer tends to set stains. I hope this helps!

      • Nope, it didn’t work….she tried that first thing….then washed it a couple more times….last time she used SHOUT IT OUT…..haven’t heard from her on that one……
