Very short and sweet this week. Just a moment of time captured in words. As some know, I have a lot on my mind right now, so this was a challenge to keep my rattled psyche focused enough just to write 42 words. By the way, if anyone wants a real quick, simple place to track your word count that’s crazy and a little fun, then have a go at http://www.writtenkitten.net. (Shameless plug, there.)
‘Mom, you can lead a horse to water… yeah, but how does it get the hose to it’s mouth?’ Her childhood innocence asked.
Mom sighed. ‘How do you come up with these questions?’
‘I don’t know.’ The child shrugged.
‘That’s your answer.’
I’m glad this helped you. Hope you are ok
Children always make things — interesting and clever
They remind us that life is really simple and that we shouldn’t stress too much about small things.
Children come up with the funniest things! Terrific post.
Oh, the questions they will ask — and do it infinitum if given the chance. Love them, though.
Sorry you’re having a difficult time and to hear about your father-in-law’s cancer. Is it something relatively treatable? Praying that he will be able to be cancer-free.

I might be able to answer if we could get a straight answer from mominlaw. As it is, I’m running on my nursing experience, and that experience is not one full of much hope.
Good things come in small packages. Best wishes.:)
Ha, I was wondering how to get “You can lead a horse to water” into this. Nice job!
I was, too. When I saw the picture that old adage popped into my head…and, well, you saw the result.
Short and sweet. And profound in its way – I must remember to deal with those awkward questions by asking another one.
lol! Every child asks “Why?” Sometimes, I think as adults we need to start asking why a bit more instead of just accepting what is said at face value.
It seems like the answers to kids’ questions inevitably come down to “I don’t know” or “just because” if they keep asking them long enough. 🙂
Short / sweet and witty ! 🙂 loved it
Short, sweet and cute. 🙂
Very cute.
I believe it was Groucho Marx who once said, “You can’t lead a gift-horse to water, but you can’t look him in the mouth.” Sending up a prayer for your father in-law.
Thanks for the prayers. Father needs all of them that he can get.
Mom is one sharp lady. Sorry about the stresses in your life. Sending hugs.
Shalom,
Rochelle
This was drawn from experiences as a nanny when I was young and having a little girl in my charge in the “Why” stage… sometimes the answer really is “I don’t know”. We shouldn’t be afraid to say that, either, though a lot of parents are.
Like the water, cool.
nicely done:)
Very nice. You are right; your mother is very pretty. I am sorry you don’t get to be with her.
She would be proud.

hello — I don’t know what I would say to a youngster if I saw that. I would presume the horse knows better than I.
LOL!
Cool story.
Simple and sweet. This brings back memories – although my kids would have come back with another question within seconds!
LOL, ain’t it so! But, it is an endearing memory…that stage in life when they just discovering the world around them.
I think it is just long enough to convey a sweet an innocent message.
I like ’em short and sweet – and that’s your answer.
Great job. Randy
Well told and yes kids can come up with amazing questions.
Sweet. I hope your mind gets relaxed and all is well… see you next week.
I will check out the kitten…
Short and to the point!
“I don’t know” is an honest answer!
Really hope you hear some good news very soon
