Friday Fictioneers – Leading Horses…

Very short and sweet this week. Just a moment of time captured in words. As some know, I have a lot on my mind right now, so this was a challenge to keep my rattled psyche focused enough just to write 42 words. ‘Mom, you can lead a horse to water… yeah, but how does it get the hose to it’s mouth?’ Her childhood innocence asked.

Mom sighed. ‘How do you come up with these questions?’

‘I don’t know.’ The child shrugged.

‘That’s your answer.’

  1. I believe it was Groucho Marx who once said, “You can’t lead a gift-horse to water, but you can’t look him in the mouth.” Sending up a prayer for your father in-law.

    • This was drawn from experiences as a nanny when I was young and having a little girl in my charge in the “Why” stage… sometimes the answer really is “I don’t know”. We shouldn’t be afraid to say that, either, though a lot of parents are.
