From whence we came…

I love this little area on my wall…

The vintage kitchen tools somehow remind me of my Mom…she didn’t own these particular ones, and only had a few similar, but somehow they remind me of her.  I think it’s the red handles.  She loved red and I love vintage.  Needless to say I had to have these.

The top two pictures are of my Dad as a little boy (on the left), and my Mom as a little girl (on the right).  I love these photos and the innocence they represent.  Simple pictures of a little boy going fishing and a little girl playing with her dollies.  Beautiful snapshots of them enjoying the things they loved – and continued to love through adulthood!  Dad loved to fish and Mom loved babies.  The stories I could tell… The muskie fishing on Leech Lake with Dad when the big storm rolled in and he drove us into shore with rain beating down, dripping off his old fishing hat onto his soggy cigar…  The time Mom and my sister did my daughters makeup (at age 6 months) and wrapped a scarf around her head to make her look like a little old lady…  Oh trust me…I have stories to tell.

The picture on the bottom is a priceless photo of my husband’s grandparents when they were in high school.  Isn’t it a GREAT shot?  The marching band was the group to be in.  Tim’s Grandpa has now passed on, but his Grandma is still with us at the amazing age of 91.  Sometimes we chuckle at the wonders of aging.  With age comes wisdom, the ability to do whatever you’d like to, and the leeway to say it like it is – which she doesn’t do often, but once in a while she surprises us with a memorable quote or two!

May we all live to a ripe ole’ age bringing us more wisdom (and the other perks)!
